When I was there I wondered why there was so many bad reviews and then half way during my meal I realised why.
Firstly the food was amazing. Really well cooked and fresh with a huge variety of dishes cooked to perfection.
The man was friendly also and welcoming.
Now the negatives...
As told before with previous reviews. The man came up to us mid meal to ask if we wanted water which we said no. He came back twice again to ask us if we wanted water as if he was offering it to us (in most restaurants in Japan water is free) so we accepted. Then later upon paying the bill we realised he charged us and that too 410 Yen! I didn't appreciate the deceptiveness.
Secondly the man kept interrupting us whilst we was eating to talk even though we tried engaging as much as possible then continued eating. He still kept coming back to talk more.
The third and worst of all which I really hate....several times whilst we was eating, the man asked me to leave google reviews for him. Then at the end while we was still eating food, the man came back again to ask me to leave a Google review for him and I told him when I get a moment I will, he told me to pull out my phone whilst eating and leave it and I told him I was eating, he then again asked me to leave a review or do it once I finished eating, guess what when paying the bill he told me again to leave him a review before I leave the restaurant.
So here is my honest review. You will notice the reason for many reviews also is because he pesters customers to leave good reviews. A month ago he had a 3.4 score google and...
Read moreFirst impression was that the place is a bit cramped and the decor is Nepalese dorm room chic. The lighting is very harsh. I was not expecting too much because the pictures posted are pretty accurate. We went with the prix fixe choice. Seemed like a good call. Here's the run down; the salad was average, the curry was good, the garlic naan was phenomenal! We also had the palak paneer which was just OK. Done right it is one of my favorite dishes, but this was just OK. Then came the tandoori, fish, chicken and a sausage. The fish was overcooked and extremely dry. Perhaps that is just a side effect of the tandoori oven. The chicken was a bit dry too and the sausage had a strange texture and not much flavor. One thing that annoyed me a bit was that the rice portion was really small and we went through it way before the curry ran out. I asked for more and the owner charged me for it. I thought that was a bit tight. All in all, I left there satisfied and I feel that three stars is about right. Some of the reviews were glowing and I'm not sure if those reviewers are comparing this food to that which can be found in New York City, San Francisco or London. Partik may fare well in comparison to others in Kyoto, or elsewhere in Japan for that matter. From my experience it was just OK. Note that the Naan was...
Read moreLeft the place with a terrible taste in my mouth. The food was average. The true problem was being charged 6,917 yen (exact) for a meal for 2. Absolute degenerate behavior to show to tourists showing love to your empty establishment. We had been to 3 other Indian restaurants throughout Japan and payed half the price for Larger, more flavorful portions. You should be ashamed to represent your culture this way. 2 naans, 2 chicken masalas, 2 mango lassis, 2 bottle waters, and 1 order of (2) samosas. Wish i hadnât payed them a visit on my last day in Japan. I learned my lesson. Will they? I doubt it. Reviews from 5 years ago say similar problems. Do not give them business so that True Indian cuisine with legitimate business practices (and ingredients) can shine brighter. Let frauds like this fade into obscurity. There are honest business owners who truly deserve your hard earned money. Edit: All the âgreatâ reviews seem to mostly be from people they relate to more, whether it be friends or those of similar culture. Do not be fooled.
They typed in what they charged me manually. I am positive they adjust as they see...
