Don't recommend this store. It's my second time renting in Kyoto and I had a much better experience last time. There's not a lot of choices to start with, and neither is there much difference in terms of fabric quality and pattern between the various price points. Bags look worn and baskets are an extra 500 yen.
The dressing assistant or maybe she's the vice store manager 副店長? with long straight black hair and bangs dressed me in a very abrasive manner and rushed me through the whole process though there was no one but me in the afternoon. She didn't excuse herself after telling me to strip and change and only gave me one second to decide on the hair style. I pointed out that it hurt at one point and she said that's how the hair should be done. In the end my right sleeve wasn't aligned with my left sleeve and the undergarment peeked through the armpit area as well as some loose threads. The slippers were one size fits all. I'm a EU38.539/US7.58 but they appeared to be too small for me. I just quickly picked one pair because the vice manager looked like she couldn't wait for me to be gone.
The price wasn't bad but for the service or the lack thereof it was not worth it. The rest of the staff seemed to be nice though, especially the Mandarin-speaking assistant on the third floor who helped me pick the kimono as well as the staff who processed my return...
Read moreI really didn’t like their service. They were in such a rush and just wanted to get it over with — no patience at all. They completely ruined my mood for the whole day. I asked if it was free size before choosing, and they said yes. But once I changed into it, it turned out to be too small. Instead of helping me find the right one, she picked something she liked — I didn’t like it at all, and she wasn’t even patient enough to let me choose properly, even though it was their mistake. I felt pressured to wear what they picked because I had already paid. I wasn’t comfortable, I didn’t like how I looked, and I was upset — so I ended up returning the kimono after just 10 minutes without even taking photos. And on top of that, it was expensive — I paid 12,600 yen for two adults and two kids. Definitely...
Read moreMy friend made a reservation here, we got there early, and it took about 30 minutes to get dressed. The store was small and I had to pay the premium price for L size. The staff were attentive and the person who dressed me was very efficient and quick. My kimono stayed together after walking around Kyoto for 2 hours. You will need to speak Japanese or go with someone who does because there are no signs in other languages. This is not a place to learn about kimono or get personalized clothing, but it is a good shop if you want an easy and quick...
