Sushi Roman — Restaurant in Kyoto

We were very much disappointed compared to reviews. First, they sat us elbow to elbow with other guests in the corner when there were many empty tables in the restaurant and seats at the same bar (we had a reservation, too). Nearly all the food was not good compared to the other food we have had while traveling in Japan. Perhaps the worst of it all was that we saw two of the chefs continuously touching their hair, adjusting their caps/bangs, and scratching their neck/arms with the same gloves used to then make the sushi. This experience truly exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful and relaxing — you feel a sense of calm the moment you walk in. The staff are exceptionally polite and attentive without being intrusive, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented; you can really tell that quality and care go into every dish. この店の料理を楽しみにしていましたが、正直言って期待外れでした。

まず、黒毛和牛は筋が多く、まったく滑らかではなく噛み切りにくかったです。和牛と聞いていたので、とろけるような食感を期待していましたが、実際は正反対でした。

次に注文した合鴨ですが、焼き上がりがまるで炭のように黒く、さらに非常に硬かったです。一口食べた瞬間に、「これ本当に鴨肉？」と思うほどでした。

さらに、唐揚げの手羽先も見た目は大きくて期待できそうでしたが、衣ばかり厚く、肝心の肉がほとんどありませんでした。しかも、揚げすぎていて焦げた苦みがあり、最後まで食べるのが辛かったです。

もし、外国人観光客が雰囲気を楽しむために訪れるなら、まあ悪くはないかもしれません。しかし、料理の質やサービスは平均以下なので、せっかく日本に来たなら、もっと地元の居酒屋を選んだほうが良いと思います。

評価4点以上の店でこんなクオリティの料理が出てくるとは思いませんでした。

本來對這家餐廳充滿期待，但實際體驗讓人失望。不要浪費金錢在這裏用餐，寧願你去錦市場吃800yen一串四塊牛舌還要好😌

首先，黑毛和牛的筋很多，完全不嫩，入口甚至有些難咬。本來期待和牛應該是入口即化的口感，結果完全相反。

其次，點的烤鴨烤得過頭，端上來時就像一塊炭，而且口感非常韌，咬都咬不動。根本不像是一道正常的烤鴨料理。

至於炸雞翅，剛端上來時外觀看起來很大塊，但實際上幾乎全是厚厚的麵衣，裡面的雞肉少得可憐。而且炸得太過頭，帶有一點焦苦味，吃起來並不愉快。

如果是外國遊客單純為了打卡來這裡，或許氣氛還算可以。但食物品質和服務水準一般，與其來這裡，不如選擇更地道的居酒屋，肯定會有更好的體驗。

沒想到一家評分超過4分的餐廳，竟然會有這樣的料理水準。

I was looking forward to trying this restaurant, but honestly, it was quite disappointing.

First, the Wagyu beef was full of tendons and far from tender. I expected a smooth, melt-in-your-mouth texture, but it was the complete opposite.

Next, the roast duck we ordered was overcooked to the point that it looked like a lump of charcoal. It was also extremely tough, making it difficult to eat. I couldn’t believe this was supposed to be roast duck.

As for the fried chicken wings, they looked big and promising at first, but they were mostly batter with very little meat inside. Worse yet, they were over-fried, leaving a slightly burnt and bitter taste.
