Definitely the best unagi kaiseki I've ever had. Perhaps the best kaiseki I've ever had. The long long lines even at 6pm tell the story quite well especially given the choice of eel restaurants in Nagoya.
This restaurant is on the 9th floor and we were given a window seat which was much appreciated. Classic wooden decor is always a winner especially with the low ambient lighting. Service was excellent, professional and timely. No flaws there.
The unagi course was pretty much perfect from start to finish. We were given a view into all the ways eel can be enjoyed in Nagoya. On top of this, the desserts were excellent too. This was my first time trying grilled eel, and I enjoyed it! To be honest, I usually don’t eat much fish but love seafood like shrimp, crabs, and lobsters—so this was a new and exciting experience for me. The sweet sauce complemented the eel and the clear soup that came with the set was light yet flavorful, making it a delightful addition to the meal. Make sure to make a reservation in advance! There was a minimum 1-hour line on the weekend when I arrived and thanks to the reservation I made, I walked past dozens of people to be seated immediately.
I wanted to treat my sister to a Nagoya specialty and she really enjoyed the eel, it was grilled and seasoned to perfection.
