This is an absolute 10/10 experience. We came to this restaurant twice in the two days we were in Nara. The food was from another world, beef sushi is a must try! The service was delightful, even if they spoke limited English. It matters not, for you order your food in a machine outside that has an English menu, before you are seated. On top of that the prices are great value for money. The atmosphere is incredible, with great shamizen music in the background and you can watch them cook all the food in front of you. The chef is attentive to every person that comes in through the door and everyone is very polite. One of the absolute best food experiences I have ever had.

Their soba was quite disappointing - the noodles are not springy enough and their soup base is too salty, especially their chicken dandan noodles. Their craft beer, known as Zagin brew, is pretty strong though - tasted like stout which I like. There is a strong, bitter lingering taste, but would prefer it to be creamier like a true stout. The highlight of the shop imo is their grilled pork bowl. The grilled pork is lightly charred, has a strong ‘wokhei’ taste, and still remains tender. Unfortunately, I would recommend their grilled pork bowl over their soba any day despite them being a soba specialty shop.

one of the best ramen places I’ve ever had to be honest. I found this place by walking along and noticed that there was a decent line outside and decided to try it out. wait time wasn’t that bad and food was relatively cheap. the ramen itself was amazing. I got the local chicken ramen and the broth was delicious. definitely recommend coming here again. on top of that, service and atmosphere was amazing. as soon as you come in, all staff greet you and orders come rather quickly. the restaurant has a great vibe, and they make the food right in front of you so you know exactly how your meal is made. finally, as you leave, the waiter bows you out of the store (he was great btw) and tops off the whole experience. as I said, 10/10 recommended...

This place is the bomb. Koichi (probably spelled it wrong) is the man. He was the host/server the first night I went. I ordered the Spicy Tsukemen and the Soy Soba. Tsukemen was straight fire (in a good way) and the Soy Soba was elegant and very pleasant. I had just run 10 miles and was starving.

The next night I returned because it was so good. I ordered the Chicken white soup ramen and it was equally as good. This time Koichi was cooking! He is a legend. Very friendly and welcoming.

The restaurant is classy and has good ambience. There is always a line in the evening but it moves quickly!

Highly recommend this place! Be sure to say Hi to Koichi and you will find a...
