We weren’t looking for this yakitori place but we cannot be more pleased to chance upon Enya with a seemingly unassuming shop front. We were led to the second story for an authentic tatami setting and we were already impressed with the exemplary customer service before the food. We came with 2 kids and my girl knocked over the tall glass of orange juice. Not only were responsive, they came back with 2 smaller glasses of juice as replacement. Talk about attentiveness. We were soon greeted with complimentary tofu cold dish for the adults. And then the food came, not that we need another reason to recommend this place. But if you love chicken, you cannot go wrong with their chicken skin and chicken karaage (it doesn’t come with the usual mayonnaise but some thousand island like sauce, I’ll say it’s much more refreshing). The pork belly is splendid too, even after the food has turned cold. The potato salad with bacon bits is one of the better ones we tried in Osaka. For sashimi, we recommend the Sesame Amberjack
My boy needed rice and they accommodated our request for some teriyaki sauce to go with it. Their service staff knows limited English, but very willing to understand our requests. The menu is only in Japanese, translation app will be helpful. We ended our dinner with candied sweet potato and Enya just made this light rainy day 10 times better. What a memorable end to our stay in Osaka,...
Read moreThe food was very nice, it is a bit expensive but with good quality. Unfortunately I had two issues on this place. We ordered some skewers and they arrived in a normal time, afterwards we ordered a chicken meat ball, after 30 minutes we asked about it and it took another 10 minutes to arrive, immediately we asked for the desert which is basically a cold cake with ice cream but took 20 minutes to arrive. We asked for the bill which took another 10 minutes and when it arrived we noticed that it was way higher than what is on the menu. They told us that they charge a table fee of 388 yen per person which includes only a tofu (I believe it is a tourist only tax) and the wagyu price on the menu is also wrong on English menu, it shows as 550 yen with tax there when it is 605 yen with tax.
There was no information about that on the menu or in the restaurant.
The total time for our dinner was more...
Read moreDropped by this izakaya style eatery at the recommendation of a friend. Went without a reservation on a weekday evening and was led up to the second floor where my family had a cozy tatami style seating corner to ourselves. Feel free to ask for availability of English menu.
Hits are their assorted skewers (tomatoes, chicken, quail, etc.) and the grilled chicken don is pretty good too. Miss was the okonomiyaki which didn’t seem to cook through and was mushy. Drinks are compulsory for every dining pax as per the waitress who served us.
Before settling your bill, you get a choice of ice cream on the house, which was a nice touch to cleanse the palate. For a family of three, the final tally was ~¥6600.
Overall, an enjoyable dining experience and I’ll recommend you to give this joint a try when you are...
