CoCo Ichibanya Namba Sennichimae — Restaurant in Osaka

I was in Japan for 3 weeks with my friend in 2023 from August to September and for 2 weeks in July 2018. This was the only really negative experience I had with a restaurant in Japan. We showed up and the manager told us the counter seating was full and he couldn't take anymore customers. We went outside to find another place to eat on yelp. After a few minutes, two tourists walked out of the restaurant. We went back in and a waitress motioned us to the 2nd floor that we didn't even know they had. We saw 3 empty tables that seated 4. We realized that the manager obviously lied to us. We ordered our food. When we were done we came down to pay and the manager rang us up. He screamed at us to use the tap function of my card and stormed off without saying anything. His behavior was disgusting. Very tasty curry with lots of different options. This is a great place where you can enjoy a katsu curry with a lot of different variants and you can basically configure the dish as you want, choosing the amount and type of rice, the sweetness and spiceness level, and the proteins that end up in the curry. My girlfriend is vegetarian and this is really one of the few restaurants in Japan that is vegetarian-friendly. They offer not only option but many, making it a unique place for vegetarians in Japan. We had a mushroom and the "hand made" pork cutlet curry and they were both fresh and delicious. Unfortunately, we didn't try anything else on the menu. We sat upstairs, the vibe is not great, for lunch is good enough. The waitress was, as always in Japan, super kind with us despite her shyness in English. We recently had two dinners here during a recent trip to Osaka because this curry chain is absolutely my son’s favorite.

The first time was a dinner and there was a strand of hair on my rice: The restaurant replaced my food but this was the first time this kind of thing ever happened in Japan for us.

The second time was a takeaway dinner for my son. However, when the nearby seafood restaurant we went to did not allow him to eat his curry there, we went back to the Coco restaurant to eat his takeaway. However to my disappointment, he was not allowed to eat it there too since the food was already taken out of the restaurant. Very disappointing.

We would still patronize this brand: But definitely not...
