Kichiri Umeda — Restaurant in Osaka

We have been touring Japan for a month now and this is the worst eating experience we have had. The ambiance was good and the staff were lovely but the odd, eclectic menu - presented on a laminated snack food style carton and the ensuing food VERY disappointing. To top it all the glass of white wine ordered was warm…WARM! The mocktail much too sweet. The portions very small and the pizza inedible - base soft, soggy and undercooked. Just a terrible experience for us after so much good dining throughout our travels. I think that most reviews must’ve been written by young, inexperienced people as there is no way I could give the food a higher rating. Very disappointed and now annoyed with myself that I didn’t send the pizza back. Sent the wine back. Had to ask for water which is so out of character with all other dining experiences be it breakfast, lunch or dinner, as it is usually the first thing put...

A great recommendation thanks to the well deserved high score already on Google Maps, we were really pleased to find such an interesting menu so close to our hotel. Every dish was just a little different in a way that made them quite special. From curry spices with the steak, to the delicious flavourful spices enhancing the karaage to perfection. The caramel banana parfait was also nice and sweet with frozen berries and yogurt.

But the true champions of the meal were the guacamole, the crème brulé pancakes and the mont blanc, all made fresh at the table and absolutely delicious beyond expectation.

Staff were helpful and reached levels of service I've come to enjoy and take for granted in Japan, perfect!

Two years later and I enjoyed it just as much as the first few times, I missed the honey cooked cheese, but most of my other favourites were there still....

If only zero is part of the rating it’s what I’m gonna give this restaurant.

One of the female staff ruined the mood of our friend’s birthday dinner. Not even once I heard her ask if the food was to our liking or are we comfortable. She just reminded us constantly to order. She was rude from the beginning. Also, our second order of fried chicken was a bit salty and burnt. I also didn’t like their food presentation. Please see the photo attached.

It was a let down to experience it in Osaka for the first time. All the other restaurants that I and my friends had been to were all excellent in terms of service.
