I love Japanese beef so I make it a point to eat it every time I’m in Japan. I had looked up many Japanese Yakiniku restaurants reviews before I settled on going to this place for dinner as the restaurant uses charcoal grill vs gas. Upon entering the restaurant, the staff tried to sit me at their dining room upstairs. I didn’t enter the room as I was told to do so barefooted (at least that was my understanding using google translate). Instead I chose to dine at the bar/counter. I had a very accommodating waitress trying to take my order showing me pics and translations on her phone as I tried to ordered beef that has the right amount of marbling. I also ordered a rice with soup so it feels more like a meal. They brought an appetizer that is a stew of unknown meat (tasted like pork) & konjac. They have an electronic menu but I placed my order with the waitress since the menu does not have a detailed description. I ended up ordering the ramshin, ichibo and chazuke. I was served the chazuke which had raw beef on top. I had thought it was merely rice in broth. Since I can’t change/cancel the order, I decided to put the beef on the charcoal grill instead. Whilst I was trying to point out to the waitress that I’m unaware of the rice having raw beef, the beef for the grill was served. Immediately I noticed there were salt and pepper on top of the meat and I had specifically told the waitress many times when I placed my order “NO SALT & PEPPER, NO SEASONING” She had repeated and acknowledged my request. So once again I pointed out to her that my order was incorrect. She proceeded to communicate to the other staff what had transpired. They removed the plate and took it aside. Instead of preparing another plate of beef, I could see another staff attempting to wipe off the salt and pepper. I couldn’t see clearly if he was using a paper kitchen towel/cloth towel. I was flabbergasted especially since the restaurant is highly rated and it was the mistake of the waitress failing to inform on my request. Anyway, I reminded her that I had stated many times “No salt & pepper, no seasoning” She then admitted to her mistake and said that not to worry but that plate will be kept for the employees and they will prepare another plate instead… The ramshin was too lean and the ichibo was ok but I was quite sure the first plate of meat looked better. I tried to place more order as I was still not full. Since the ordering process did not go well and the ichibo wasn’t as good as what I had in Tokyo, I tried to order the meat that was initially shown to me at the very beginning of the night prior to placing any order. The waitress was no longer available and I finally gave up and asked for the check. They tried to charge me 20% service charge. I used google translate to check since the total amount was 30% more than the total amount displayed on the tablet. I enquired with the staff and he informed me that the charge is for switching out the plate of meat to one without salt and pepper. At that point, I was quite disgusted as he was the same person who tried to wipe the salt and pepper off the meat. I told him that I should not have to pay for the waitress’s mistake especially since I had stated to her MANY times to not put salt and pepper on the meat. He amended the bill after I agreed to pay for their norm of 10% service charge which I later confirmed is not the common practice/norm in Japan/Japanese restaurants unless it is in a fancy establishment which in this case wasn’t. I should not have stayed the moment I was told I had to walk barefoot on their floor. So no re-visit and I definitely do not recommend. Due to this experience, I tried to look for another Yakiniku for the night but gave up since it was too late into the night for any good options. The quality of the food is definitely not worth the...

Tucked away in a quiet alley in Osaka, this yakiniku spot is a true hidden gem. From the moment we walked in, the service was absolutely top notch. The staff take care of everything for you – they grill each cut of meat to perfection and even help share the entrees into small plates, making the experience feel both personal and seamless.
We chose to order à la carte instead of the set menu, as we were on a mission to try all the ox tongue dishes – and we’re so glad we did. Every dish was delicious, with the green onions adding the perfect burst of freshness to the rich, savory meat.
The real standout of the night was the Koune Grilled Shabu Shabu Negi-Maki – four pieces for just 1,280 yen. The beef was incredibly marbled, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and honestly unbelievable for the price. It’s not easy to find on the menu (kind of a hidden item), but trust me, it’s an absolute must-try.
If you appreciate warm, attentive service, a calm and intimate setting, and truly high-quality food, this place is a must. Highly recommended – we’ll...
