Okonomiyaki Yukari Sonezaki Honten — Restaurant in Osaka

Came here for lunch and was able to get a seating upstairs after waiting for ten minutes. Ordered the Yukari okonomiyaki, omelet yakisoba, scallops with garlic chips and pork and green onion gyoza. Besides the okonomiyaki, all the other dishes are cooked in the kitchen. The okonomiyaki took 20 minutes before it was ready to eat and in the meantime the other dishes were served. The gyoza was pretty tasty with the refreshing green onion and grated radish; scallops were a bit dry and overcooked. The yakisoba was tasty with a good amount of firmness; the rich, savory and sweetness from the ketchup and mayo was a nice addition to have with the yakisoba. As for the okonomiyaki, it was also tasty and the portion was good for the price; the Yukari version includes shrimp, pork belly, scallops, squid and konjac in the mix. Be sure to use the paper bib provided as the oil on the teppan definitely bounce and pop and get all over your clothes and anything you have on the table. The griddle is really hot so best to put your phone and other things on the seat with you. Slightly cramped seating and tables, so you might get pretty hot, especially if you visit in summer or humid months. Staff was attentive, quick and there is an English menu available if you need it. If you’ve never had okonomiyaki before, and probably if you have, they’ll be sure to tell you at each step what is happening and when to wait. The food was decent but the service was awful. It wasn't very busy so can't even excuse it with that. After being sat I had to call repeatedly to be served. After ordering and waiting for over 15 minutes I again had to remind the staff multiple times about my drink order. When they started making the okonomiyaki I had to remind them about my starter! When they finished the okonomiyaki they just walked away without saying anything. I only knew about the additional condiments etc because another server explained everything to the couple next to me. It felt like because I was a single diner they didn't want me there, even though I ordered quite a lot of food and drinks.
