Very nice bakery and cafe.
To help with some confusion. There's a small cafe on the first floor on one side of the street that is solely for coffee. They have a bench out front you can wait for your orders, but no seating. We had an affogato and a latte, which were both very good.
Across from the cafe on the 1st FL is the to-go bakery (you can get a 100 yen discount in the bakery when you get a coffee from the lower level cafe). They had an assortment of pastries and breads. We got a couple of things for later that day, with the curry bread being a huge highlight!
Finally the main cafe is on the 2nd floor with a notebook for reservations out front. The main cafe is really nicely decorated and has a surprising amount of space inside and outside for seating. We had the pork cutlet sandwich and the THICC egg sandwich (not kidding that's the name 🤣). They came out on a really cute cutting board with a side salad (very good dressing, which I believe was Caesar dressing). The egg sandwich was good but maybe needed a bit extra to vary up either the texture or flavor (the side salt provided was okay in this sense). The star though was definitely the pork cutlet sandwich. Amazing flavor, perfectly crispy and juicy on the inside and the bread was soft enough to absorb the juices without getting soggy. We had to return another day just to get our own order as we had split both sandwiches the first time, and that wasn't enough 😂. Highly recommended if you're in the Namba area and want some...
Read moreI had a late lunch at Sakimoto and breakfast on another day. Lunch was an omelette sandwich with a hojicha latte. Breakfast was french toast with black coffee, and a slice of Sakimoto’s famous toasted milk butter shokupan with three types of “jam” (more like a paste). I also bought the truffle oil bun and a slice of the almond raisin bread. The highlight was the omelette sandwich - the omelette was large and very smooth, coupled with some cream spread and the bread, was a winning combination. The hojicha latte was not too sweet and had a good amount of hojicha inside. The almond raisin bread is another excellent product. Dusted with some icing sugar on top with plenty of sliced almonds, the raisin bread had raisins integrated with the bread (so one doesn’t see whole raisins) and didn’t taste like a conventional raisin bread. The french toast was alright - perhaps close competition with the HK version. As for the toast, it probably wasn’t worth the calorie intake, though the “jams” were interesting - the pistachio flavour was the best one out of the three I had. Lastly, the truffle butter roll is good when slightly warmed up. Black coffee is a typical Japanese style coffee - not strong at all. Although one places the orders through a QR code, service is great - very prompt and polite. With free wifi, Sakimoto is a good pitstop on the way to...
Read moreWe just had breakfast here today at the cafe on the second floor. The cafe does not seem to be foreigner friendly and the lady at the lady who attended to us (name has the character “萍” in it) was very rude and impatient when we did not understand her. For example, she showed us the English menu (on a laminated A4 paper) and when I flipped it over to see if there is anything else behind, she immediately flipped it back pretty roughly and said “only here, only here” in an unpleasant tone. When we asked her if we could order bread from their bread shop downstairs to bring up to eat (I used google translate to do a translation) as they had more varieties downstairs, the same lady told us impatiently and rudely that we can if we order a drink.
The cafe is lovely with lots of plants and the bread was not bad, however the experience was marred by terrible service.
Another English speaking couple came and the same lady at the same attitude towards them, and the man did not seem pleased with the...
