SUGIDAMA Minamimorimachi — Restaurant in Osaka

When choosing a place for dinner, sometimes it’s better to trust your instincts than rely on a Google rating.

Tonight, we found ourselves wandering the local market / mall. With many shops closed, and about 20 restaurants still open, we surveyed the best option for a quick local dinner near our hotel. With countless dining choices in this vibrant city, we were just after some sushi, snacks, and a drink to wrap up a long day.

Despite some very commercial looking promotions out the front, The busiest place, full of locals seemed a reasonable bet. Stepping in, we were warmly greeted by two floor staff and the entire kitchen crew, which instantly put us at ease. The atmosphere felt authentic, not tailored for tourists, which was refreshing.

Drinks were offered almost immediately, and arrived just as quickly—something you don’t often see back home. I'd give any restaurant 6 stars for the greeting and the prompt drink service,

But sadly that's neither possible nor all that common a dining experience back home.

Food wise, we could either order from the waiter or use a QR code. The code felt more convenient for everyone, so we went a bit overboard, picking more than we needed.

Our eight dishes came out in waves, each beautifully presented, incredibly fresh, and packed with flavor. If you’re ready for a break from Osaka’s famous takoyaki, or Ramen and katsu diners, definitely put this place on your list. X For eight dishes, two large beers, and two ginger ales, the bill came to a very reasonable ¥6,700.
