THE CORNER Pizzeria&Cafe — Restaurant in Osaka

I dropped by THE CORNER Pizzeria & Café near the Hearton Hotel Nishiumeda and I liked it more than I expected. The pizza is baked in a stone oven and tastes genuine — crispy crust, good toppings. The staff are warm and welcoming, and there’s seating both indoors with a cozy vibe and outdoors which is more relaxed.

Because of its location, you see business people popping in, which gives it a lively but not too noisy atmosphere. Prices are fair for what you get — a well-made pizza, pasta options too. My only gripe was that outdoor tables don’t always have enough shade or cover, so heat or rain can be a factor. Still, for when I wanted something casual but tasty, this place...

It was a mild evening, so we chose to sit on the terrace. We shared the chicken pate, a Calabrese pizza with a tomato salad and desserts of Tiramisu and Basque cheesecake. The pate was smooth and well-flavoured. The portion sizes of the pate and salad were a bit small, especially for sharing. They happily added anchovies to the pizza, which had a very authentic crust, thin and light, well-blistered and crisp on the edges. The desserts were perfect. The young staff were eager to please and coped with our English. The menu has English subtitles. The wine list has some nice Italian drops, but unfortunately my favourite Grillo was sold out.
