A total disgrace to Japanese service so I decided to voice up as worrying that the misleading rating will disappoint a lot of tourists and your impression of this country. This was the most awful dining experience I had ever in Japan: As someone who travels to Japan almost every year and absolutely adores the country and especially its world-renowned hospitality, I never imagined I would experience something this appalling. But during my recent trip to Osaka in May, I encountered the most disappointing experience of Japanese service at this well-known okonomiyaki restaurant. What happened was beyond unacceptable — it was a total disgrace. While my husband and I were enjoying our meal, I turned to speak to him and suddenly noticed a large wet-looking stain on his pant leg, right over the knee. To my horror, when I touched it, I realized it wasn’t water — it was grease. We looked under the table and were shocked to discover that used cooking oil was leaking from the teppan grill. It wasn’t a minor drip — it was waste oil, likely from the cooking process, that had been pushed down when the staff cleaned up the teppan beneath the grill and was now dripping directly onto customers. We immediately informed the staff, expecting swift action and an appropriate apology. Instead, we were met with astonishingly slow response and minimal concern. Eventually, the manager came over and offered a verbal apology, but that was it. No compensation. No cleaning fee offer. No discount. Nothing. They just moved us to a different table — as if my husband’s clothes hadn’t just been stained by oil. Upon checkout, the guy attended us was the one who came to move us to the new table, but no greetings nor apology at all. Total disappointment. Japan is a country where service standards are supposed to be among the best in the world — where staff apologize sincerely if your ramen comes two minutes late. And yet, here we were, treated as if our ruined clothes and disrupted experience were of no importance whatsoever. This was, without a doubt, the worst service experience I’ve ever had in Japan — and I say this as someone who has done long stays in the country and visited countless times over the years. To management: If you want to be taken seriously as a reputable restaurant, own up to your mistakes and take accountability. A simple apology is not enough when your negligence causes damage to your customers.

Went to the restaurant with friends. Monjayaki was one of the reasons why we visited Osaka. The shop has 4.8 stars on google review, so we were pretty excited to try it here. The staff were helpful. Yuri-san who took care of our table was nice and friendly. No problem with the service at all.

However, while we are thankful for having a generously huge chunk of cod roe (mentaiko), monjayaki was quite salty. The next monjayaki was pork belly with plum and nori. It was also super salty. Eating super salty food continuously while showering with lots of oily smoke, heat, and loud music, we were quite tired having this meal.

If the shop can manage to...

Invest in smoke hoods to reduce oily smoke,

Lower the volume of the music,

most important reduce saltiness of dishes,

I'm sure the shop can give better experience to customers.

Anyway, I'm giving food 2 stars in stead of 1 because the cucumber with plum sauce and some kind of egg-yaki were tasty. (Still a bit too salty for my...

This has been the worst service experience I've had in Japan! We waited 20 minutes for our second Monja, and I think they just forgot about it. Nobody bothered to explain what was going on. When the second Monja finally arrived, the waiter started cooking for us, but then out of nowhere, another waitress told him to cook for the table next to us. Seriously?! We ended up waiting another 10 minutes, and my 5-year-old was getting really impatient asking where the food was. I ordered some raw cucumbers for her, but that took another 15 minutes. We didn’t even want to order anything else because we were worried we’d be stuck waiting forever. When we finally checked out, they tried to charge us extra, and we had to wait another 10 minutes for them to fix it, with no explanation or apology….. We ended up have to find another restaurant to...
