Cafe Ao — Restaurant in Takayama

A bit confusing to find but when you see the floor Matt's with traditional seating to the left, turn left and place your shoes on the rack. There will be an entrance in the right far corner where they will greet you.

The atmosphere is great. Beautiful traditional floor seating area with a garden view.

I had a matcha cake roll which was very good! I highly suggest it.

A tucked-away coffee shop in Takayam's old town. You won't be able to find out if you walk too fast.

Served drinks and desserts only... Cafe Ao has a lovely ambience with nice tatami setting n a nice garden.

Decor is very japanese style with good vibes.

Prices are not very costly neither is it cheap.

Service is excellent as most of the younger staff could speak English too. They all served with a cheerful smile...🙂

We rode our bicycles here so it was easy to just stop n hop in.

This is a cool cafe located in a building and share places with other souvenir stores.

The place is spacious and the atmosphere is relaxing, it’s good to come with friends and chat. The coffee and dessert here are priced reasonably. For a set (1 dessert + 1 drink) costs no more than ¥1000.
