A clear example and shameful to admit that that when someone thinks that they are entitled to do whatever they want, they turn out to be Indians 9/10 times, doesn't matter which part of the world it maybe. My wife and 6 yr old daughter had a long day in Tokyo and before winding up, headed for dinner. As we were staying in Ginza, found this place and headed there. It was 8:30 pm and they had another solid 90 mins for the last order. There were people in waiting which was understandable. But shortly a few mins after, 3 tables one after another became vacant, however only the people in front of us were given a table and despite two tables remaining vacant they said we'll take time with no further information. We just sat there outside hoping they'll call us inside. But everytime the manager eyed us and just pretended that everything is normal, the tables continued to be empty and apparently it started to hit me that they weren't interested in taking further orders. After 40 mins we just left. They had no interest in being courteous enough to say why or why not the tables weren't being given for occupancy. I also saw a few items in the menu stuck on the walls as a popular dish. One dosa with chutney and sambar was ¥1790. We were ready to pay up and waited long enough. But clearly those folks were being extremely silly, and I was more than happy to walk out....
Read moreThe food here was quite good—we enjoyed the dosa set and rice meal, which were flavorful and satisfying. However, the chai and Madras coffee were just okay and could be improved.
Unfortunately, the biggest letdown was the unnecessarily rude behavior of the Indian manager/server. While we were dining, he abruptly demanded we settle the bill—raising his voice with a sharp, "Check ok??"—instead of politely informing us that there were customers waiting (we couldn’t even see the door from our seat). When I responded confusedly, he stood there glaring until I finally got up to pay. Only then did he thank me—too little, too late.
What made it worse was the clear discrimination—he checked on other tables (including those also lingering after meals) but ignored us, likely because we weren’t Japanese. His aggressive attitude was completely uncalled for, especially since we were ready to leave anyway.
Good food is ruined by bad service. A little courtesy goes a long way—no diner should be intimidated or singled out just because the restaurant is busy. Manager, if you’re reading this: Treat all customers with respect. You’re lucky I didn’t escalate things, but not everyone will let this slide.
Would I return? Maybe for the food, but definitely not for...
Read more3 stars (because I can’t choose 2.5). And also because I think your experience here depends on the day and your sever. The first time we went, we had a nice meal (everything was hot and well prepared), the staff were sweet, appropriate waiting times etc etc. This weekend however is a different story. We were seated before at least six other people came. Our orders weren’t taken for a full 20 mins and much after everyone else’s orders were already taken. The water glasses were dirty. The food took ages to arrive and was lukewarm at best when served and not a patch on the taste of the first time around. One of our Thali had a missing food item and we were told point blank that we must have missed seeing it and already eaten it 😂 I mean… sure! We left without even touch our water or bothering to order the post lunch coffee we had planned...
