Hi just droping a reviews. Food i didnt order any so i tick one star since its ruin my morning day. must say atmosphere is cool i love the ambience. I love Japan and this is my first time in Japan so i decided to do coffee hoppin cause i love coffee and yes Japan of course one of the lovely country. Since day 1 i came here, every coffee place i went to is very kind and awesome. Barista's show how truly Japanese are, kind and warm and friendly to me . But this cafe(few words coffee) , before i came to this cafe, i am so excited to do my first morniny coffee so i went here. My experience is really bad. the first moment when i enter this cafe , the owner(i assumed ,old man) he asked is it for take over or to go so of course i wanna stay in for awhile and enjoy their coffee) and he said is it okay if only 30min if i want to sit down , its fine by me but since the moment he talked to me like that i already feel the energy is negative but i try to stay positive until i made an order and of course i will ask about coffee since i am paying for my drink as customer ( not to mention when i ask where is the menu list and hes tapping the menu list very hard) but im still keeping calm cause i really dont wanna spoil my trip/day ๐) . And i ordered a pour over coffee . its hot ( maybe i forgot to mention ice coffee cause my mind is already affected by his attitude) so when my coffee came, i am asking for an ice (not expecting like alot of ice , even a little i would appreciate ) but he pointed to me and said "its pour over coffee!" well of course i know its pour over and i only request for an ice abit but he talked in a rude way. If only he can say in a nice way i will appreciate since hes old cause i respect people especially when they are elderly people ๐ฅน. So now i know this cafe is NOT WORTH to visit (unless your patience level is 5star ๐) Since i came here in Japan, i have no issue with any cafe i went to but this 'Few Words Coffee' leave a mark on my trip as the rudest...
ย ย ย Read moreThe short: STAY AWAY! watered down coffee, average food, unremarkable interior, served by a guy who is cold, unappreciative, and miserable to interact with.
The long: Wife and I came in on a Monday morning to a small unassuming place. As soon as we walk in and the owner realizes we are tourists, he is cold, asks one word questions, and refuses to break a smile. He then tells us he has a 30min max seating time. Keep in mind, the shop is completely empty and itโs Monday morning.
Then he starts to make our order until a few minutes later a Japanese local comes in and places and order. He stops making our order and makes the localโs order first. I donโt think anything of it until a female tourist walks in. The guy automatically says I canโt take your order now, please come later. Again, we are the only ones there.
The food comes (cafe au lait, cheese toast, red bean toast). Coffee is totally watered down, no flavor, and toasts are average. He doesnโt ask if everything is okay or if we need anything else. We eat and get up to leave, we say thank you and he neither says anything back or even acknowledges we are leaving.
Itโs pretty clear he doesnโt care for tourists, his coffee sucks, and he is miserable to be around. He should not be in food service. Just stay home and make garbage coffee for your self! Not a coffee master at all!! Avoid...
ย ย ย Read moreA small independently run solo shop with an owner who just really loves coffee. In a time where big coffee brands churn out cup after cup of hot joe, it was weird entering a coffee shop where we stayed for almost 30-40 minutes. But my friends and I found ourselves fascinated with the dedication and time that was spent not only making our coffee but explaining to us where the beans came from, letting us smell the different roasts he had, and which toast would go well with it.
The coolest part of our time at A Few Words Coffee wasn't even the coffee but the experience. Yes the coffee was good but the owner's clear passion for coffee and desire to share it with us is really what made this place stand out. From talking with him, we gathered that he'd started this place several months ago as he was tired of his computer job. It's a one man operation; he orders his own beans, roasts them himself, and makes the coffee himself. We had two different types of coffee beans in a pour-over style and ordered two different toasts (the black sesame is pictured). Needless to say the coffee and toast were spectacular but really the reason you should come is to support the small coffee business and support the individual who is serving coffee because he loves it, not because a big company is...
