Italian style seafood restaurant. I really wanted to try an authentic seafood restaurant while I was in Tokyo and I came across Bogamari one night in Shibuya. I was able to get in the restaurant 1 hr before closing and was seated within 10 minutes even though it was pretty busy and not many tables. They don't have an actual menu for food so they bring you to a glass window where you can pick and choose how you would like your seafood, pasta or soup dish done. The challenging part however was that they mostly only speak either Japanese or some Italian and very little english. Staff were very helpful while trying to understand my menu request, they were also very patient while I tried to order my meal. I got a shrimp and grilled veggie plate to start which was delicious. Then I got a huge fish platter with mussels, calamari, shrimp in tomato sauce. The fish was okay but I'm not a big fan. It also came in a tomato soup dish which made the fish skin peel off with a wet and soggy consistency although the inside tasted nice and fresh. My bill came out to almost $100 Canadian which is quite alot considering I couldn't exactly explain what I wanted but I guess you're paying for high end authentic seafood. I would've prefered a crab soup instead. All in all it was a good experience and I would probably go back if I could order something with a picture and a price next to it instead. 3 stars because the fish plate I received had two clearly visible big chips in it and it ruined the whole presentation for me. I expected a little more professional from...
Read moreIf you fancy having freedom to order, this is the place to visit! This restaurant is known for having an open seafood menu. All you gotta do is walk up to the seafood counter and pick what you like from the sea and how you want it prepared; and boom you got it! You can have scallops with pasta or with the risotto. You can choose tomato base or even lemon cream or olive oil base. Don’t want any carbs? Just want the seafood alone? That’s fine as well! But be sure to try the tiramisu here if you’re overwhelmed from making all the food decisions for your mains. It is absolutely delicious!! Everything was!! I would just advice to be careful with your choice of seafood as they price differently and some can be expensive depending what you choose. My family and I (3 of us) paid about ¥59000 for dinner. We were extremely satisfied but some may think that this can be on...
