The lady with short hair at the counter seems to lack an understanding of respect for customers, which should be mutual. I also noticed that previous comments about this shop from other users mention the same issue. Initially, we ordered two drinks to go, but upon finding an empty table, we decided to dine in. However, the lady abruptly and loudly refused our request, instructing us to leave despite available seating without providing any explanations. I had paid for the drinks without making any unreasonable demands and had asked politely, yet her attitude suggested otherwise, leaving us feeling unwelcome. Hence, we chose to leave the shop in the end, as the lady's actions seemed discriminatory.
For those seeking quality coffee, there are numerous welcoming alternatives to this discriminatory coffee shop. Their coffee is average, comparable to what chain stores offer.
To the shop owner: While you may believe you have the right to treat customers this way, customers also have the right to share their honest feedback online. If you think such a poor attitude could benefit your shop in the long term, then I look forward to the day of its closure.
In all honesty, I would be inclined to rate this coffee shop 0 out of 5. However, out of a sense of fairness, I will give them 1 out of 5 simply because I did try...
Read moreI stayed in Tokyo all last week and visited this cafe most mornings because it was just so incredible! I had both hot and iced lattes, as well as the lemon cake and the persimmon cake, and all of it was to die for. The dine-in space is minimal, clean, and cozy, and there is seating outside to sit if you want to enjoy the outdoors or if their indoor space is closed for the day.
Most memorable was the incredible service. I felt so lucky to enjoy such kindness and friendliness from all the workers, despite my terrible Japanese. I was always greeted with a smile, and they would even come to the door to wave me goodbye and wish me a good day. I know such treatment isn't uncommon in Japan, and maybe I'm just a naive foreigner--but it truly felt so kindhearted and gave me the perfect start to my day, especially if I was feeling down.
Thank you so much for being a favorite part of my trip to Tokyo. I hope to come...
Read moreFor 2 people, we ordered 2(!) drinks and 2(!) cakes and, of course, fully paid for them. Then we took seats outside on a cold stone bench.
I had my favorite small savory bun from a chain convenience store, and after finishing my cake, I still had some tea left, so I ate my bun. Despite this taking merely 1 minute, the cafe owner became mad:
He began knocking on the window, showing his displeasure at me eating my bun. He then took the time to show me a translated message indicating it's inappropriate to eat outside food.
But, man! I just paid for 2 drinks and 2 foods! I gave you my money! And I had a decent order! Let me eat my small treat, especially since you don't offer any substantial food!
He was quite rude and slightly aggressive. I left feeling as though I had been insulted after giving my money. Such a poor attitude...
