Crab Fried Rice Shibuya — Restaurant in Tokyo

To be clear - this place is for you if you are looking for a simple, well-fried, rice dish. Not many items on the menu (as in the ordering machine). You are suppose to be here for fried rice, top with crab meat. The crab meat is kept cold (for freshness) and only top up at the end of frying the rice. This is not a “traditional” chinese restaurant where you can order many items on the menu.

The restaurant is small, with 14 counter seats circling the chef’s station. When you order your fried rice, only then the chef whip up your order - piping hot and fresh. There are two other group seatings meant for 4 each. That’s all it is.

The main item is a plate of fried rice with crab meat. The menu does have a few other options - egg add ons, variation on the side items. Also limited side dishes like a simple salad (again with crab meat), and gyoza etc. You can order beer/basic drinks to go with your order.

For my order, i was given a complimentary soup broth made of, what else, crab legs. Yummy. I also ordered the salad to add abit crunchiness to my fried rice.

OLD POST: I like the way they make the chahan so hot and delicious. Imagine your chahan tossed up in the air repeatedly with wok to mix the whole ingredients in a high pressure lpg stove that you can almost see the flame. By then after a couple of flipping the wok, in a split second the rice is tossed onto the plate with one sweep using the ladle. Chahan is served hot in front of you because of its bar counter table facing the master, just the ultimate way of chahan experience. Go there if you love chahan.

New review as of Nov 2016, the quality is different with my last visit. Disappointed. Chahan (fried rice) is not as good as before. A little watery. Cooking style is also different than before. The rice no longer goes up high jn the air while it's being cooked. It is just an any ordinary style of cooking fried rice. I did not see the speed and taste that was there before. It could literally be a change in management decision to just make it an ordinary fried rice and it's nothing special....
