I really enjoyed my falafel sandwich and I was very happy to be able to customize it, along with an English menu, but the rest of my experience was questionable.
First off, it was December but the big window was open and it was freezing. The staff should be conscious of the customers every single customer in there had their jacket on, bundled up eating inside a restaurant.
I ordered a Coke Zero but by the time I got my meal (after watching the soda can and the cup of ice sit on the counter for 15 minutes) the cup with ice was almost completely melted, so what was I to do with a cup of melted ice half full of water? Mix my soda with it? Take it into the bathroom to dump it...? I poured it on the tray with no other option and then had to eat my sandwich as water swirled around the tray.
Now here lies the real reason for 3 stars. I was very excited to order the cookie skillet they had for dessert, when you see a cookie in a skillet on the menu what do you think? A soft chocolate chip cookie? In a warm skillet? Vanilla ice cream on top melting into the cookie? Some chocolate sauce possibly? To my surprise what arrived to the table was a rock hard cookie in a cold skillet, but not just any cookie... an oatmeal raisin cookie. Never in my life have I seen a cookie skillet with a flavor other than standard chocolate chip unless noted, which I could look past but as I chiseled away to break the hard cookie and take a bite, to my surprise again the ice cream was peanut butter...??? What a random combination of oatmeal raisin and peanut butter I could understand if someone ordered that but to have that as the standard flavor of the cookie? So the anticipation of my warm cookie skillet as shown in the photo was actually a cold oatmeal cookie with peanut butter ice cream, which I was barely able to eat it was so hard. I had to use both hands to chisel away at the cookie to break it, my friend across the table was scared fearing a rock hard piece of cookie was going to fly across the room and take out her eyeball as I tried to cut it. The flavor should be specified on the menu because I'm sure every foreigner that walks in there is going to expect a chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream in a warm skillet or at least a soft cookie. I see it's called an ice cookie on the menu but I thought that meant ice cream and cookie skillet... not ice cold rock hard stale oatmeal cookie in cold skillet with peanut butter ice cream. As a vegan I've learned to be acceptable of experimenting with food but this was a shock I was not...
Read morePROS So I was nervous to go here given the reviews but the food was great. Don't know if it is different at various times of the day (to account for some of the bad reviews) but honestly, based on my meal, it was really delicious.
CONS The reason I couldn't give them higher stars is literally just because I have a soy allergy and they had no allergen menu. The staff did their best to find out what they could, but it was a big red flag to me when they reply that things are okay, when they turned out not to be. What mean by this is the many conversations we had that were like this: "Hi, I have a soy allergy, is the pizza okay for me to eat" Immediately answers "yeah. Pizza doesn't have soy in it" "Are you sure? Can you check the ingredients on the packet?" "The packets don't have ingredients on them." "Okay do you have an allergen list?" "No. We can only tell you what has gluten in. Do you have a gluten allergy, we can show you the list if that helps?" "No I don't have a gluten allergy I have a soy allergy. If you have no list how do you know it doesn't have soy in?" "Because we don't add soy" "Well what about the cheese. If it's vegan cheese, do you know if it's soy cheese?" Pause "yes it's soy cheese..." "So I can't eat that then can I?" "No." Repeat similar conversation for desserts, bread etc. Super exhausting. Made me really anxious. Got there in the end though and had some nice food so grateful for that.
Wanna add that the staff were as helpful as they could be. They told me everything they knew and I get that people without allergies think they know what's in things and don't understand why soy/milk would be added to an unobvious thing but.... please don't tell people with allergies that food is safe when you're not 100% sure. Get an allergen menu or at least a list of ingredients for your...
Read moreThis cute and vibrantly colourful vegan place offers burgers, pitas and rice, curry, salad, falafel plates. They have several delicious looking dessert options
We got the brothers salad bowl, and selected the bro-nese, brother ganoush and bro-bq toppings, I loved all of them! The falafels had a good texture and were flavorful and their hummus was on point
The brothers hummus plate really showcased their hummus, the roasted capsicums were a great addition and the pitas were truly exceptional. Probably the best pitas I've had! Soft, thick and tasty 🤩
The karaage was probably the highlight for me, the pickles were an excellent choice. Highly recommend!
The cheese cake with berry sauce isn't particularly sweet in my opinion, but for everyone that likes their desserts less sweet, this is probably your best bet
Oat and raisin cookies aren't usually my first choice to eat with ice-cream but after having the ice crookies, I might have to change my mind! My favourite desert...
