We (me and my daughter) found this restaurant while we were looking for something to eat for lunch in Takashimaya in Shinjuku. Most place has long queue, but there was none at this place. Generally I like Unagi dish. So we decided to go in and ordered the lunch menu, we both picked the cheapest one which was over 2000yen each. It was good, I loved the dish. The balance between rice and eel was good. The sauce was not too sweet and lite. However I felt one of the male staff body gesture was a bit unfriendly. I first saw him when he came to serve the dishes that we ordered. Somehow I felt, he did not like how we put green tea cup on the table. While I was about to move it, so he could place the tray on the table, but he went right to move it for me with an annoyed body gesture. Then we meet him again when he came to serve at the table next to us. I tried to smile at him to ask for more tea, but he just walked away. Then a friendly female staff saw me which I asked her. Then we met him again when we paid our bill. Again I didn't feel right about him. This could be just me who felt that way. Everyone who reads this review should try for yourself and take it with a...
Read moreA traditional Japanese eel/ Unagi restaurant in the 14th floor of the takashimaya department store. They don't take reservations, so go early and line up, because it's very popular and queue and wait time can be long. The food quality is excellent and pricy too. Recommend ordering the lunch set, which is quite good for the prize and it's filing. Highly recommend trying the Nagoya style Unagi lunch set menu, where you get to try the sweet Unagi rice bowl in three different style. Delicious concept and tummy satisfying 🤤😋. The food quality is great quality and filling as well. Since the demand is high, they tend to be fast pace, and the server may not give you full attention. Yet, they won't pressure you to chug your eel down, so they can turn the tables for the next customers. You can relax and savor every bit of that juicy sweet eel and rice. Highly recommend trying this Japanese authentic food delight at least once. A must go and try Japanese cuisine...
Read moreI love unagi, but unfortunately this restaurant was somewhat disappointing, primarily because the unagi itself had many bones. It still tasted good, but it wasn't fun to keep picking the bones out. I realize that the management has addressed this, stating that it is normal for unagi to have small bones, but these were significantly more prominent than what I'm used to, and certainly more noticeable than any other unagi I had on my trip to Japan. The restaurant itself is very nicely appointed, and our service was excellent, which is reflected in the price. But I would much rather have better quality eel at the expense of the atmosphere, rather than the...
