Fuunji is hands down my favorite spot for tsukemen in Tokyo! I had been wanting to try it for a long time, and when the opportunity finally came, it exceeded all my expectations.
One of the best parts of my visit was that there was no line at all - a rare treat for such a popular place. I was able to place my order right away and sit down without any wait. Within minutes, I was served a bowl of their iconic tsukemen, and from the very first bite, I was in heaven.
The noodles were absolutely perfect—firm, chewy, and satisfying - and the broth was simply glorious. Rich, flavorful, and just the right balance to complement the noodles, it was everything I had hoped for. I opted for the 300g portion of noodles, and it was just the right amount to leave me feeling perfectly full.
This is one of those places I would happily return to again and again, knowing I’ll enjoy the same fantastic flavors every time. Fuunji truly lives up to its reputation as a must-visit spot for...

The noodles are to be dipped into the bowl of thick broth. When you’ve finished the noodles, you can pour some soup (in a flask on the counter) into the bowl of broth and then drink it to finish off the meal. The tsukemen is the only dish that this restaurant serves - a consummate specialist. I ordered the regular size together with extra pork chashu (a very generous serving) and it was more than enough. As with all ramen shops, service was quick and polite, and very good value for the portion and quality. You might find the noodles to have a slightly alkaline flavour. Also this tsukemen shop is outside of the Tokyo station ramen street, so away from the crowd, and easy...

I went there twice and on both occasions there wasn’t a line.
The tsukemen was one of the best I have tasted. Beware the ramen portions are quite big. I got the medium at first thinking the small 200g of noodles wasn’t enough but it was more than sufficient.
When you done with the noodles and have dipping sauce remaining, there is a jug of broth you can pour into your bowl to turn the sauce into soup (and less salty) to finish the goodness.
It was on the expensive side for Japanese standards but was tasty. Full of flavour and...
