Ginza Ginger (Ginza main store) — Restaurant in Tokyo

Edit because I went back: we got two more kakigori here and they were good, the orange ginger and the blueberry. We got the cream on top which I’d definitely recommend. They give you a jar of fruit concentrate to pour on top and it was really tasty. The blueberry one was better imho but if you like ginger the orange was good too. We’ll be back.

The kakigori, while expensive, was some of the best I’ve ever had. Peach oolong mozzarella? Sounds like an insane combination but it was done so, so well. In search of kakigori on hot summer days in Tokyo, visited this lovely cafe twice within 3 days.

Tried the classics, which were great: camembert base with strawberry (many other tables seemed to be having the strawberry too), and the more gingery ginger milk base ice shavings with kiwi + banana espuma.

Also tried the seasonal specials - "mango passion tea banana" was extremely refreshing, while "tomato & cheese & basil" with the camembert base was very innovative to combine pizza-inspired ingredients in a sweet treat.

Definitely interesting Kakigorj (shaved ice) that you wouldn’t find anywhere else as this place specialize in ginger. Most of the sauce here contains ginger but not overpowering. I highly recommend this place if you really like ginger but even if you aren’t, it’s still very good shave ice so give it a shot. It’s really tiny restaurant and not many people working there so expect to wait 1h in line or make reservations...
