This was one of the things I wanted to try while in Japan and I'm so glad we stumbled upon Gold Rush. It was our last night and we had a feast. They have specials on Tuesday and Fridays. Like most places, they do have the menu in English as well, but we had already used our Google translate to order! The hamburger steak was super delicious. The meat itself is so well seasoned that the added cheese on top or brown gravy sauce is just an added bonus. It comes out screeching hot on a cast iron griddle along with veggies and potatoes. We cleaned the plate and then ordered more. Next time I'm in Japan, this will be the first place I visit. The place is very smoky but the atmosphere is nice enough and the drink refills are on the honor system, you should charge yourself for each refill--The melon soda [beautiful greenish teal color] is the best soft drink...

It was a friends recommendation after we had a discussion that there isn't really any good Burger (Not Hamburger) in Japan in general. It's all bland and tastes like nothing, even famous burger (again, NOT Hamburger) shops suffer from that said bland taste. But not this one. I went in expecting nothing but the familiar bland taste and yet, I was very presently surprised by what I ate. Be sure to buy extra Bread to make your own mini Hamburger, it gives a lot more character. Of course, cooking it at home always tastes better and this burger is pretty mediocre compared to the ones you eat in European or Western countries in general, but considering that you're at the heart of Tokyo and only pay 10$ for a full meal of meat, there's not much to...

Had a big workout in shibuya and was in need of protein. I wanted to try Japanese Hamburg steak and this place Gold Rush looked like a OG spot. The place has an urban cowboy kind of patina with stickers all over the place. The chain is over 40 years old but there’s other Hamburg spots that’s been running for a 100 years in Japan. Gold Rush is mostly young diners and certainly has that vibe as well. I ordered the highest protein dish and it was not disappointing. It was multiple patties and you need to cover yourself with a napkin to prevent sizzling splatter. The patties are not all beef. I believe it has some kind of binding ingredient but not sure. I prefer all beef but it’s still worth the experience if your craving...

The food was genuinely enjoyable, with a good variety of options. It offers a unique twist—more of a Japanese take on Western-style cuisine—which makes for an interesting change of pace. That said, the cleanliness left something to be desired. We noticed grease in several areas, which affected the overall impression of the space. Service was minimal, with much of the experience being self-service, which may not suit everyone’s expectations.
