This is, by far, my favorite ramen house in Tokyo (and I've been to a lot of great ones). Very nice staff, and the ramen is out of this world good. Like with most ramen places in Japan, you order with a ticket vending machine by the door. The machine has English descriptions of the selections and on top of the machine they have English instructions for how to use the machine. After ordering you find a seat, give your tickets to the staff and tell them how hard you like your noodles. There will be a sign right in front of you telling you how to ask for hard/med/soft noods. Then, after you eat all your noodles in your bowl, you can ask for 2 noodle refills for free! It's a quick service place so it's polite for you to not linger, especially if there is a line. I recommend the spicy miso ramen (w/ hard noodles) with pork and Welsh onions with an extra egg. That's what I have every time I've been there and it's been...
Read moreSuper restaurant, super ramen, super price. Really welcoming to foreigners. It pays to learn some Japanese phrases. Just say 'kaedama' to the chef and you get up to 2 free refills of noodles into your broth after you finish the first serving. You can select how you want your noodles cooked also - from soft through to very hard (barikata). You initially make your order through a touchscreen near the door as you enter, which is really handy, and it also displays an image of your dish, which limits confusion. Then sit at the bar and enjoy a drink while they cook your dish - it does not take long at all. I wish fast food at home was this healthy. There are lots of free additions you can make to your ramen here. The garlic oil and red Japanese mustard was a great touch. The chef and staff gave out great vibes here, and I really wished I knew about this place on my first visit to Tokyo. Very deserving of...

Every time I go to Tokyo, my wife and I make it a point to visit Fūryū Ramen in Shinjuku. We have truly fallen in love with their ramen.
The broth is incredibly flavorful, not too salty and not too oily. The portion of chashu (sliced pork) is generous, with a good balance of fat and lean meat. They don't give you a lot of noodles, but they offer a service of two free noodle refills.
You can also choose the firmness of the noodles, and personally, I prefer them slightly firm. Their ramen, paired with their seasoned boiled eggs, is truly a perfect match. Every time, I savor every drop of the broth and leave...
