Been in Japan 3 years and have gone to a lot of different tachinomi places (standing bar). Just a complete lack of respect towards foreigners... first off, outside of the chefs, the "lower" jobs aka serving & cleaning is done by immigrants and the "higher" jobs aka taking orders is done by japanese. The person in front of me began smoking directly at my face so we decided to move a table over. cleaned up our area before leaving, but the japanese girl gave me the dirtiest look and came over to yell at me not to change location without permission. i apologized and told her the guy in front of us was smoking directly at my face, so we just moved over one table, and she hissed that everywhere is the same inside the bar... i told her hell no, there's a wall in front of me so nobody is blowing smoke at my face.. she didn't have anything to say and just hissed and left. when we were leaving the bar she was at the entrance and she just looked away and didn't even say arigatou.
the place itself is good--atmosphere, food and drinks, and maybe i just caught them at a bad time, but based on other reviews, doesn't seem like the case.
There are so many other good options...
Read moreThe staff seemed nice at first. But after we made friends with locals there, they pushed us away from our table even though we were still drinking and enjoying our company. I prefer to think it wasn't based on the fact we were foreigners, but it looked like it. To make it short, I would not recommend this place if you want to meet locals. There are plenty of awesome places around that "bar" where you can have fun and expérience Japan at its best. Avoid this place if you don't want to ruin a fun...
Read moreWe were informed by the waiter there isn’t English menu, we said okay we try.
With the help of Google translate we ordered some skewers with the cashier, whom was helpful and tried his best to explain the food when I needed clarification.
Overall atmosphere was good, beer was good, skewers were good too.
Thank you for helping a tourist get his meal and beer.
Unlike the store next door which had a small moustache / bearded gorilla whom was hostile and discriminating.
Cheers to the service...
