Eating with the locals is the way to go when you’re in Ueno, Taito City. The sashimi here is incredibly fresh. We ordered the sushi, and the tuna was a bit chewy—likely because it was cut from the tail end, which tends to have that texture. The tempura was also very tasty. We tried the mushroom, sweet potato, shrimp, asparagus, octopus, and squid legs.

Good tempura. We were given an English menu which had higher prices than the Japanese menu at the table next to us. We were charged for items we didn’t receive (I’m not sure if they were out of stock, but they still charged us for them). Limited non-alcoholic drink menu.
