I'd lived in Kyoto for nearly 5 years and had been to many famous wagashi shops in Kyoto and Nara but " Kantanna Yume" offers you totally different experience on wagashi. The young lady who is the owner has a passion to broaden our stereotyped veiws on wagashi. One needs to visit this place with an open mind, I think. I also enjoyed Japanese black tea called Kaguyahime from Shizuoka. (Surprisingly, Kaguyahime black tea had similar aftertaste like 水仙茶.) The owner told me that in the coming months she is planning in pairing her creative wagashi with different types of coffee.
Before, I was leaving she let me try a sip of tasty mocktail called "White Tomato Tonic." It had unique aroma of sweet basil and fresh tomatoes. Due to Covid-19, it's better to reserve a table in advance because of the limited seatings.
