CHECK THE PRICES - VERY EXPENSIVE !!!!!!!
We booked this restaurant very last minute for our best friend’s 50th birthday. We just arrived in Tokyo that day from the snowfields and wanted to treat ourselves to something special to celebrate.
We arrived at the restaurant where we were greeted and seated by the very friendly and professional staff.
The space is very intimate and neat, with some quirky Japanese style decor.
We were given our menus and a run through of what was available and a description of the Kobe beef and sides etc.
We had been to this type of restaurant before back home and understood the process.
We all went ahead and placed our order and also ordered a bottle of wine and drinks.
They came out and presented the meat with an award which looked impressive and they we all took photos with it as well.
They began serving our sets and preparing our meat and sides. We cannot fault the food or the service. It was all exceptional and probably the best steak we’ve ever eaten in our lives.
What we didn’t realise at the time and it was completely our fault was the actual price of what we were ordering. Initially we thought the steaks were between $65 and $88 each and the wine was $30 a bottle…. In actual fact, each steak was between $650 and $880 per steak and the wine was $300 per bottle of which we had ordered two wines and seven steaks.
You can imagine our surprise/shock upon discovering at the end of the evening when the total came to approximately $6000 between six of us.
At the end of the evening we learned our lesson and we laughed about it and confirmed that we all did really enjoy the meal, but we would typically not spend that much money per person on a single meal.
The atmosphere in the restaurant wasn’t overly exciting. It was very quiet and relaxed.
Did we enjoy the meal? Yes would we go back there again and do it again, perhaps if we won the lotto lol.
My advice is make sure that you convert and read the prices correctly as you can fall into this trap...
Read more🚨‼️⚠️ I’ve traveled a lot, but Kobe Beef Daia Teppan-Yaki was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had.
They don’t mention anything about a cover charge when you make a reservation, but the moment they realized we were tourists, they suddenly added unexpected “fees.” After sitting down and looking at the menu — which honestly didn’t look appealing at all — we decided not to order anything.
That’s when things got worse. They told us we each had to pay 2,000 yen per person just to leave. We didn’t eat, didn’t drink, just sat down and said no thanks — and they still tried to charge us like we owed them something.
The staff were extremely rude, spoke aggressively, and made the entire situation uncomfortable and disrespectful.
This place is a scam for tourists — overpriced, dishonest, and unprofessional. Save your money and your dignity. Don’t go here.
Additionally: The owner’s response to my review further confirms exactly what I was describing. Rather than taking accountability or showing any interest in genuine customer feedback, he deflects blame and responds with condescension. Telling a guest to “read the menu before reserving” is dismissive and entirely beside the point—especially when the issue wasn’t the menu, but the experience, the service, and the attitude.
This type of response speaks volumes about the management’s approach to hospitality. It’s not just about food—it’s about how people are treated. If this is how concerns are handled publicly, I can only imagine how others have been treated behind the scenes( it is not in the menu you have to get soft drink, it’s not in the menu you have cancellation fee and many...
Read moreBEWARE THIS PLACE IS TOTALLY A TOURIST TRAP. YOU WILL NOT NOTICE UNTIL YOU PAY THE BILLS BECAUSE THEY CHARGE YOU EXHORBITANT AMOUNT IN YOUR BILL. We ate 220grm of high quality kobe beef as recommended in their menu and another 220grn of average quality kobe beef. The kobe beef was just so average nothing special and it is doesn't taste like wagyu at all. We have been to a high quality kobe beef teppanyaki like this in Osaka with many awards like this restaurant and they claim they are the same but the service and the quality of the kobe beef is totally different and their food is very salty. GUESS HOW MUCH THEY CHARGE US WHEN WE PAY, WE WERE CHARGED 120,000 YEN FOR 4 PERSON AND ALL WE ATE WAS 220GRAM (HIGH QUALITY KOBE), 220GRAM (LOWER QUALITY KOBE), TWO FRIED RICE, SOME VEGE, FEW GLASSSES OF BEER AND HIGH BALL. And we are frequent travelers to Japan, every year we travel to Japan and we are quite familiar with the restaurant in Japan, despite that we still fall into this so call 4.9 Google review rating. I seldom write bad reviews but I felt that I need to do so to alert all the tourist like us, hopefully you all will not fall into this Tourist Trap...
