WORST RESTAURANT IN JAPAN! DO NOT EAT HERE!!! I had a horrible experience at this restaurant today. I went during lunch. I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant but immediately upon sitting down I became very disappointed. The staff were extremely unprofessional and rude. They were gossiping about customers and lacked basic manners and good customer service. I took a picture of the restaurant and the staff hid and laughed which is rude and odd considering that this is a tourist area restaurant. I ignored this but it set the tone for what was to come; poor and immature staff behavior and a lack of training and management.
My husband and I ordered two burgers and only one was supposed to be a lunch set meal. The staff mixed up the order and blamed my husband. They gave him fries when it was supposed be for my burger. It was a small mistake for a cheap restaurant like McDonald’s but for a burger that’s ¥4,000 and for a restaurant that isn’t busy I thought it was odd. Still I didn’t get angry I just asked them to give me fries and we even offered them my husband’s plate so that they wouldn’t think we wanted free fries.
I didn’t get angry I just asked that they fix the mistake because for such an expensive meal I shouldn’t have to eat fries from his plate and I shouldn’t have to switch my burger (which was large and messy) to his plate. It’s the staff’s job.
There was no apology. They took both of our burgers back to the kitchen after we went back and forth explaining the mistake to the 2 female staff members. Both of them had bad attitudes especially the short girl with the red/brown hair and the man with the earring .
Both the girl with the red/brown hair and the man with the earring began talking badly about us and laughing. It seems odd that an expensive restaurant like this would hire college kids or high schoolers that clearly lack formal waitressing experience and manners. Hoop earrings on a man at a nice restaurant also seems out of place.
I was shocked that they were bold enough to insult us by whispering right behind my husband’s back. They must not have known that he is Japanese. I recorded them and once they noticed they got scared and hid as you can see the male coworker is pepping to see if I was really recording their gossip.
All they had to do was put the fries on the right plate. We never got angry at them. The staff retaliated by serving the same fries from my husband’s plate and poured a ton of salt on them and gave it back to me. They were cold and too salty. They didn’t apologize. They seemed upset that we wanted our order to be served correctly.
They refilled our water without asking or saying excuse me and they took my plate before I even finished chewing my last bite. It was the worst experience that I’ve ever had at a restaurant in Japan.
They all need to be fired and new staff need to be trained properly. All they had to do was say sorry and correct the mistake by giving me fresh fries. I avoided complaining about the saltiness of the fries because it was clear to me that this restaurant wouldn’t care. I have received better customer service at McDonald’s than here. It’s hard to believe that the staff were Japanese. It felt like a kitchen run by high school students and their teacher wasn’t there.
Is it really that hard to say sorry when you make a mistake? Laughing at customer is acceptable? If you pay nearly ¥10,000 for 2 burgers wouldn’t you want your order to be correct?! I just wanted fries… if anything the staff should should have given us both free fries for the inconvenience instead we both get cold food that had been tampered with. It’s scary thinking about what they did.
Please don’t waste your money and time here. I am so glad that we went during lunchtime. It costs about ¥9,000 for lunch for 2 the hospitality here is garbage and not worth that much money. I wish I could have gotten a refund. This experience ruined my day. Luckily I live here. If I were a tourist I would have felt angry because I wasted my vacation time and money on such...
Read moreI'm a tourist myself and forgot that I should really use a different strategy for finding restaurants in Tokyo. I entered, and there were only foreigners. That should have been a red flag.
I had the bento beef set, and while the presentation was pretty, the meat was very... dull. Especially for being Wagyu. The taste wasn't amazing, not inspiring, not jaw-dropping as so often does happen in Japan. It was... meh. What did taste surprisingly good was the sauce on the salad: almost smokey, and it had this beautiful umami flavor. But I hadn't gone there for the salad. The servers are very decent and speak English, you can pay by card, and the decor is... again, uninspiring.
It's not that this place is necessarily bad. In another country I might've given it 3/4 stars. But this is Tokyo. I only have so many times a day I can stuff myself with delicious food and felt it was a wasted opportunity. So: if you're looking for a decent enough place: grab yourselves a table and have a bite. But if you really treasure your eating moments and want the best: pick a local mom and pop shop. Find the locals and follow them.
They actively ask for reviews, and have good marketing, but the quality of the food doesn't back it up...
Read moreWagyu sushi was outstanding! Loved it so much, I even ordered more. However, the service was the worst I’ve had in my two weeks in Japan. We were the only table in a small restaurant and the two servers kept talking and looking over at us when I was hoping they would come over to refill water or give us an opportunity to order more. I let them know in beginning we might be ordering more food. When I ordered more sushi, there must have been a miscommunication as they brought me two more orders instead of two more pieces of sushi (They come in sets of two). Totally understandable! I kindly let the staff know I only ordered two pieces and I was very sorry for any misunderstanding and I kept profusely apologizing. They tried to make me keep 4 pieces and when they took it away were incredibly rude and said nothing. They ignored us the rest of the time. Water was not refilled and we were not acknowledged. Even before the miscommunication, they ignored us and stared at us until I smiled and waved to get their attention after 20 mins. Worst service I’ve had in Japan. I would not go back because I was left almost in tears with how the...
