We almost walk past this place because of the higher price point (compared to other street vendors and some other shops in this area, that is) and the long line. I am so so so incredibly grateful that the virality, the price, and the reviews all absolutely lived up to its hype and we didn’t skip this stop 🥲💛
Ordering process: you order, and they give you a ticket, which then you line up again if you would like to dine in (highly recommended, it’s considered rude to walk and eat, and it’s also something you want to properly enjoy right away with a table).
I wouldn’t say we have the most sophisticated palate (😂), and often we couldn’t really tell the difference between premium and regular cuts of meat/ seafood, but this was an instant recognition of the quality. The way the premium tuna melts in your mouth like butter, the way its taste just coats your tongue and compliments perfectly with light soy sauce and the wasabi that they give you, are all something we still talk about (we’re on Day 8 of our Japan trip, and this is still holding strong in our top 3).
The tuna sushi was also an amazing addition (only available after 10:30 am), and the rice compliments the tuna extremely well. I don’t think we’ve eaten sushi that slow before because we really wanted to savour every single bite. I was very sad when I took my last bite 🥹😂😭
I wanted to also give a shoutout to the kindest, warmest worker who gave us a complimentary plate of tuna when they overheard my partner wishing me a happy birthday. Line up- it’s worth it. I’ll be dreaming about this place and that plate of Toro Sushi & Tuna Sushi Roll until my eventual...
Read moreDefinitely a bit of a tourist trap, but the food here was still really good - just a bit on the pricier side with some markup. Expect really long lines, but they do a good job of trying to keep things organized and give people a chance to stand at tables or counter space to be able to finish all their food, and they clean up very quickly. They're also able to speak English very well which helps with communication with travelers.
We got the 6 piece sushi for 3400 yen which comes with two pieces each of their special fatty tuna, fatty tuna and medium fatty tuna. The pieces are a bit bigger and they were definitely delicious. The tuna melts in your mouth like it's supposed to and tastes very fresh. They also move enough product to keep...
Read moreI am proud to say that I was first in line waiting for the shop to open! Was waiting 30 mins before it opens worth it. YES.
This shop selling one thing, different cuts of tuna. Fatty, medium fatty and lean. Yes it is not cheap but I’m sure it is cheaper than having it at a restaurant.
The fatty tuna was so rich and clean at the same time, each bite burst with the rich fatty oils of the tuna. I was sick of it on my last piece, it was too fatty. But it was nice to have it with different cuts like that lean and the medium fatty. In all honesty, I much rather prefer the medium fatty one because it has a nice balance between the irony taste and fatty oils.
Come here if you’re in Tsukiji, and you’ll end up feeling sick...
