Marutake, a hidden gem for tamago enthusiasts, promises a delightful culinary experience minus the extravagant price tag. The star of the show here is undoubtedly the tamago, a Japanese omelette that embodies simplicity yet bursts with flavor.
What sets Marutake apart is not just the quality of its tamago but also its affordability. In a city where culinary indulgence often comes at a premium, Marutake manages to strike a balance, making it a go-to spot for those craving a satisfying yet economical meal.
However, be prepared for a patient wait. The popularity of Marutake means that long queues are par for the course. Yet, for those willing to endure, the reward is a taste of tamago that makes the wait seem inconsequential.
Marutakeโs charm lies in its unpretentious setting. No elaborate decor or fancy presentationsโjust the goodness of tamago. Itโs a place where the focus is squarely on the food, and for many, thatโs exactly what they seek in a dining experience.
In conclusion, Marutake is where simplicity meets culinary excellence. If you find joy in the uncomplicated pleasures of a well-made tamago and are willing to trade a bit of time for a pocket-friendly feast, Marutake is the...
ย ย ย Read moreThere are 2 tamago sellers on the same street, we initially lined up for the one with a longer line when we saw that this place had less people lining up, tamago was cheaper (ยฅ150 for 1 stick vs ยฅ200 for the other stall), and staff looked friendlier / warmer reminiscent of your favorite aunties and uncles during family reunions
While we don't have a comparison because we ended up not trying the one with the longer line anymore, this place did not disappoint because the tamago was soooo good! Best tamago I've tasted in my life and best food I ate in Tsukiji market, hands down
The tamago was warm, sweet and juicy. Very diff from the ones served in restaurants that are made into tamago sushi.
Even if there is a line, they serve very fast because they have some readily available already but don't worry because it's still hot when they serve and tastes freshly baked. It helps that they serve it to you with a smile too!
It was so good that we bought 2 more sticks after going around the whole of Tsukiji Market because out of everything we ate, this was the only one that stood out. Easily my top 1 also during our whole Tokyo trip.

One or 2 other people were waiting, and there were a lot of people just lingering about or in other lines in this crowded area of the market. I figured out where to wait and then the piping hot omelets started coming out. So cheap and worth grabbing for a snack. It was perfectly sweet and fluffy as expected. I could have eaten a lot more!
I stood across the street where it was allowed so I could eat - there are many signs around preventing people from standing at business entrances. Too many people standing in line for the tuna stand are making the...
