Marugame Seimen Shibuya Dogen-zaka Shop — Restaurant in Tokyo

I have had Marugame in California, but it felt like it would be good to try it while in Japan as well. I happened across this location while in Shibuya.

There was a line, but it moved quickly. The design is akin to Subway, and you walk in a straight line on the counter and select base and toppings. I opted for curry udon and added some chicken tempura.

Overall, everything was delicious. It's very hearty and filling. I think I only paid ¥1000 for two bowls. They dont offer any paid drinks that I could tell, but there is free cold water.

Will this place win any udon awards? No, but ad a chain that allows for consistent meals you can...

We went there during lunch fund and there was a long line up so we went little after the rush hour and was able to get food and seat.

Make sure you know what you want as the line moves quickly. Staff is friendly and prompt. First pick what your of soup you want and they will give you it udon and some broth, then down the line you pick tempuras if you want them, you get your udon toppings you chose ( we got beef and oyster) then you pay.

Beef was really sweet but it was tasty. Oyster udon, wasn’t my fav.

Great udon place with tempura selection! You can have most of the udon with hot or cold broth and after getting the bowl, you can choose from a variety of fried tempura foods what you want to add. I took fried shrimp and squid and a normal cold broth udon bowl. This was a life saver on a very hot august Saturday and the taste as well as the price was amazing. You can even add spring onions and tempura flakes to your soup, which I did.

Topped off with the friendly personell and the nice wooden ambiance, definitely a recommended...
