Matsuya Ueno Station Asakusa Gate — Restaurant in Tokyo

From all the Matsuyas I ever went, this was the worst one. The place is old and badly maintained, the tables, chairs and divisors are visibly worn down, giving an atmosphere of uncleanliness. I didn't confirm if the place was actually dirty, but the atmosphere caused this effect. The service was like MacDonalds, you pick your food at the counter. Maybe this is normal policy for a Matsuya in the exit of Ueno Station, but any other Matsuya I went at least had staff bring food at your table. The food was not the best compared to other Matsuyas, I'm not sure why. Overall I think they need to redo the entire place, else it's not worth going there at all.
