My husband and I visited while in the area and we had a great time.
The staff were so friendly and helpful and talked us through the process.
There were a few people already visiting but it was really chilled, like you were visiting someone's house.
Right by the entrance there's a bucket of fishing toys, and sooo many boxes and high places for the cats to hide in. They also had constant access to a private back area that most of them went sprinting through.
All of the cats seemed incredibly happy, even the ones with cones on (although I took this as a sign that they are being well cared for, I know some people may look at it differently but hopefully they don't), and were all so loving and happy for strokes and scritches. They even had a couple of kittens!
It seemed like most of the other guests were just patting the cats, so offering them a chin scratch went over incredibly well.
Kids are allowed and none of the cats swiped or hissed at anyone (except the other cats) despite some of the kids being a bit rough handed.
We also got to see them being fed, which was a surprisingly fun experience. The view is really nice too.
I think we ended up staying for 2 hours but it flew by, and it was really reasonably priced.
I'd definitely recommend this cat cafe to anyone, especially after we visited a slightly more "up scale" one later in our holiday that was a let down in almost all areas in comparison (atmosphere, friendliness of the cats, friendliness of...
Read moreThe place isn't very pretty but the rest is good. It's not a cafe in the coffee sense, but instead you get a drink from the refrigerator. There is bottled tea, soda, and water. There might also be refrigerated coffee but I don't drink coffee so I didn't pay attention.
Some of the reviews say that the cats aren't very nice. But in my experience they behaved like cats typically do. I found one that was very friendly and let me pet it. Another didn't want to be pet but was very playful. キング (king) was asleep but very soft. I enjoyed petting him while he slept. Even if you're not petting any cats it's still a fun but relaxing environment. The younger cats are always running around chasing each other. Of course, if you buy a snack for the cats or are there for the cats' snack time they are naturally friendlier.
There are also a few manga series available (in Japanese of course), including what seemed to be the entirety of One Piece and several cat related manga.
I also saw some complaints about the staff in the reviews, but my experience was very good. One employee was just doing cleaning and stuff but the other was there for the customers to talk to. She seemed like the owner. She is someone you could talk to with basic Japanese. A kid and his mom who appeared to only speak English also walked in and they were given help.

Read moreVisited this cat cafe in Ueno on a whim as we found it was near our hotel. With no reservations just walk-in. To our surprised it was a cozy small space with only my family and another small group there. The staff clearly care about the cats and were so friendly and welcoming to us tourists. They gave us some rules before meeting the cats and had us change into slippers, wash our hands and lock our bags in the lockers. There were many cats and most of them we learned afterwards were saved from the streets. The funds purchased for tickets were about 800 Yen per 30 minutes and those funds helps find homes for the adoptable cats. You can also purchase treats from the machines there. We had a really fun time interacting and petting the cats. When our 30 minutes was up you had the option to continue for a fee but we didn't. The staff had given us photocards and little souvenirs for our visit.
Highly recommend visiting if you are in the area as this cat cafe is a lot quieter than ones you'd see in Shibuya, plus funds go towards...
