I've been to McLean's Burger stand now twice and I must say that this is one of the best burger joints in town. There are many fancy places here in Tokyo but at the end of the day, fancy is fancy - your eyes just can't satisfy cravings. McLean's manages to make burgers both look AND taste great. I ordered the double cheeseburger with avocado and their "8-up" soda (lime cordial I guess is the 8 part....)

The buns: hot, crispy, fresh and light.

The patties: juicy and you can taste the freshness of the beef. It is rough ground with a great balance between lean/fat.

The condiments: tomato slice was nice and thick and I was really happy that it wasn't raining tomato water/juice all over the place. The patty was plenty juicy. The iceberg lettuce leaf is folded in a square, really interesting presentation and it makes for a very neat burger package 😊 I really appreciated that there was no secret sauce or sauce squirted onto the patty/bun because I like to eat with my hands and it's annoying having to wipe your finger after each bite.

The fries: crispy, hot and nicely salted. Thick cut too and that is quite rare here where the preference seems to be for matchstick fries.

Add all of the above and present it on a wooden plank and you've got a really immersive gourmet burger experience without pretense. There are lots of burger paraphernalia and a black and white movie played via an overhead projector.

My to go to place for burgers here in...

Walked up on a Tuesday afternoon. Place was one of the few open in the area during golden week. They had a bit of a line and seemed to be backed up with online orders so even though we got takeout it took a little while to serve. I ordered the Big Mac and the fish sandwich. Big Mac was delicious, beautifully cooked patties along with an amazing house made sauce. Fish was a bit disappointing. It was on the dry/overcooked side with a pretty boring tartar sauce, but that’s my fault for wanting fish at a burger spot, so it doesn’t lose points from me. Fries were fine, well seasoned, still crispy after the short walk home. Overall a little pricey although...

One of the best burgers I have ever had in my life! Proper buns, toasted until nice and crispy, seared beef pattys with good caramelisation yet still retaining its juiciness. We had the smoked whisky burger, nice and smoky with a delicious bbq sauce. The monthly special, a marmalade and cream burger. The marmalade had a sweetness and a fresh flavour to cut through the rich burger. And also the bbq chicken burger. You can taste the juicy chicken and a good hint of smokiness. And the fries are proper fries. Nice and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside! Everything was simply delicious, I will definitely be back as I stay only 5 minutes...

From SF Bay Area on vacation. Walked by and it smelled great, so my 14 yo nephew and I gave it a shot. McLean’s turned out to be an absolute gem with incredible food and a thoroughly charming atmosphere. We were blown away by the burgers (they are perfect) and wonderful homemade drinks (‘Dr. Popper’ is excellent). The decor was delightful- with thoughtfully curated details making the space feel like an old school diner, but elevated with subtle touches like deep-cut soul 🎶 softly playing, 🎥 ‘Good Burger’ in background being projected on a wall, & dishes & napkins emblazoned w/the shop’s name. Loved it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Such a nice little place! Very cute place with such a pleasant atmosphere. The quality of food is very good, the meat is perfectly cooked (not overcooked as it can often be). The balance of taste was juste fine too. I had the teriyaki burger, and although I usually don’t like sweet/salty food (don’t ask why I choose that!) the balance was just right. Another detail (but not the least), the music was amazing!! Otis Redding, Sam Cook, Kenny Sharp, Dusty Springfield… and many more. I simply had a very good time eating a very good burger in Tokyo.
