Nestled in the heart of Tokyo, Mutekiya Ramen stands as a testament to the artistry and dedication that goes into crafting the perfect bowl of ramen. Renowned for its rich broth, abundant toppings, and vibrant flavors, this humble eatery has garnered a loyal following of ramen enthusiasts willing to brave the inevitable queues for a taste of its culinary prowess.

From the moment you step foot into Mutekiya Ramen, you're greeted by the tantalizing aroma of simmering broth and sizzling pork, setting the stage for a culinary journey like no other. The atmosphere is bustling and lively, with the sound of slurping noodles and satisfied sighs filling the air, creating a communal dining experience that is as enjoyable as it is authentic.

But it's the ramen at Mutekiya that truly steals the show. Each bowl is a masterpiece of flavor and texture, starting with the rich, umami-laden broth that serves as the foundation for the dish. Made with care and attention to detail, the broth is simmered for hours to extract every ounce of flavor from the ingredients, resulting in a depth of flavor that is unparalleled.

But the magic doesn't stop there. Mutekiya is known for its generous portions of toppings, particularly its succulent slices of pork. Tender and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, the pork adds a satisfying richness to the dish, complementing the savory broth and chewy noodles perfectly. With each bite, you're transported to culinary bliss, savoring the interplay of flavors and textures that make ramen such a beloved comfort food.

Worth the Wait?

I recently had the opportunity to dine at this shop, and I wanted to share my thoughts and experiences with you.

Firstly, I must commend the quality of the food. The ramen was well-prepared, with noodles that were perfectly cooked—springy and not soggy. The broth was flavorful, albeit a bit on the rich side, which might not suit everyone's taste. Some ingredients, particularly those on top of the ramen, were of excellent quality, while others, found at the bottom, were quite ordinary.

However, there are several factors that might deter potential customers from visiting. The most significant issue is the wait time. During peak hours, the wait can range from 20 minutes to an hour, which is quite lengthy. While the food is good, it is comparable to many other ramen shops in Japan, and thus, may not justify the long wait.

I would recommend ordering the simplest ramen on the menu. The more expensive signature ramen, while abundant in portion, does not offer a significantly superior taste experience. This is, of course, a matter of personal preference, but from my perspective as a non-professional food enthusiast, the simpler dishes are more satisfying.

Additionally, the shop has numerous restrictive signs posted outside, which can be off-putting. There are also some safety concerns, as indicated in the attached photos. Moreover, there have been complaints from other customers about higher charges for foreigners compared to local Japanese patrons.

In conclusion, while this shop offers a decent dining experience, the long wait times and other issues mentioned above make it less appealing. Japan has a plethora of excellent ramen shops, and there are many other options that do not require such a long wait.

Thank you for considering my feedback. I hope it helps in making an informed decision about visiting Feel free to customize this letter further to better fit your personal experience and the specific...

Before I talk about the ramen, the queue for this place stretches around the corner daily so be prepared to wait a bit or come early.

I ordered the original no.1 ramen which is the most popular and costs ¥1,600. Now, that price is a bit higher than the average price for a bowl of ramen in Tokyo. However, I’ll tell you the price is justified by the portion size alone because it’s quite large. Now to the flavour. The broth is thick, rich and salty with a strong pork flavour. Don’t worry if you find it a little too overpowering or salty as they will happily make it lighter if you ask (but I found it fine). The noodles are on the firm side, egg is cooked perfectly. The garnishes include spring onion, seaweed, some greens and bamboo shoots which are marinated and are slightly sweet. There is a hint of a spicy and sour Yuzu paste in there to add a bit of depth. Now onto the star of the show. The thick cut pork was so tender it fell apart when I picked it up. It was juicy and bursting with flavour.

This ramen is amazing and I definitely give 5 stars. It’s worth the wait in line and the portion size is generous. All the ingredients are high quality and there’s a wide variety of accompaniments such as chilli oil, soy sauce, crushed garlic, free jasmine tea and water, crushed bonito powder, Sancho pepper powder and more. The service is on point, catering to both Japanese and English speakers with seperate menus, and the staff are always on hand to fulfil requests to change your ramen experience to your liking. They also supply you with a paper bib or hair tie if you require for free. Amazing ramen place and I definitely recommend. Among the best in...
