I found this place when looking for omurice restaurants in the Shinjuku area - my husband is on the search for the tastiest omurice in Tokyo after failing to find any that really impressed him last time we were in the area. This place did not disappoint and was the best dinner for our first night in Tokyo we could have asked for!
The restaurant displays its menu (in both Japanese and English) outside with coordinating food displays - there are also paper menus available, too. When you enter, you’ll place your order at the self-service kiosk and hand your ticket to the server behind the counter. The staff is very welcoming and helpful! We were very, very impressed by (and grateful for) their thoughtfulness - staff held a table for us while we were at the kiosk when another group tried to come in and sit down before placing their order.
Once the server takes your order ticket and you have a seat at either one of the tables or at the kitchen bar, you’ll be greeted with a cup of onion soup. (I love onion soup, so that was a delightful surprise!) The food comes out quickly and is hot, fresh, and tasty. I ordered the Hamburg Steak Omelette Rice and my husband ordered the Hamburg Steak and Fried Chicken Omelette Rice - the food was insanely delicious! It was seriously perfect after a long day of travel - flavorful (but not over the top) comfort food and familiar but also unique. I also very much appreciated that you could order mini-, regular-, or large-sized entrees. I ordered the mini-sized entree, and it was the perfect size for me.
My husband and I are already talking about going back to eat again before the end of our trip! I would very much recommend trying this place out or putting it on your radar for your next trip!
[Edit: We couldn’t stop talking about how delicious the omurice was, so we ended up having dinner there a second time...
Read moreAnother good find. Saw this on someone's IG and decided to give this a try. Went to the first store and there was a small queue. We saw from a notice near the door that they have a second store about 5 mins walk away and decided to head here instead. No queue here but it was full. We didn't have to wait too long. About 5 minutes or so before seated.
The restaurant specialises in egg omelette rice with different types of gravy and meat. I ordered the Wagyu cheese steak with sausage. Such great flavour. Not at all salty. Beef is excellent and not overly cooked. Sauce has a good punch of flavours and spices. It is really a kind of comfort food, perhaps on a cold day. There is a free flow of soup and coleslaw. I didn't like the coleslaw. Not sure if it's due to the cumin seeds. Not a fan of the taste.
The restaurant is run by three young people. It has a nice vibe, and the service is nice and polite. I would visit again if I had the chance. It's a good, comforting dinner after a long...
Read moreVery popular place for omurice so come at an odd time or be prepared to wait a little bit since this restaurant only has about 10 seats. You order at the ticket machine and then line up to be seated. There is a restroom in this restaurant.
When you get seated, they serve you a cup of deep flavored umami onion soup. As a person who doesn’t really like onion, this soup was surprisingly delicious. We ordered a large sized hamburg steak and fried chicken omurice with beef sauce. The hamburg was tender and oniony. The fried chicken wasn’t very crispy but it was juicy and flavorful. The omurice itself was a nice combination of runny egg with flavored rice. There wasn’t enough beef sauce to coat everything but it was good and had mushrooms and onions. Overall it was a good meal but I feel like the flavor was lacking somewhere. At a certain point, all the components except the chicken started...
