I think this is either similar or actually another branch of Imahan sukiyaki restaurant. It's right below the Hyatt Regency Shinjuku - thus really convenient to visit.
There are plenty of seating inside, and the staffs are very attentive and helpful. A couple of them speaks passable English but otherwise conversations are in Japanese. English menu is available when requested.
The menu covers both sukiyaki and shabu shabu, and there are various meat grades. I tried both the normal and medium quality beef and both were very tender and yummy, so don't be compelled to go for the highest meat grade if it's your first time visit.
The price also varies whether it's basic sukiyaki set vs one that include appetizer, and desserts. One note, I was trying to share an order but the staff insisted that one order per person. We were definitely full after the lunch.
The staff cooked the beef and vegetables in the sauce on the table as we eat. When all the beef and vegetables are cooked, the staff use the glazed pan to cook the raw egg to eat with the rice. It's kind of house tradition.
It's not cheap but the...
Read moreExcellent service, delicious Sukiyaki! This restaurant is easily accessed from the hotel by taking the elevator to the last floor and then exiting towards the signs for 7-11. The restaurant offers shabu-shabu as well, but we decided to order a Sukiyaki set. My set contained sashimi, while my partner ordered a set with waygu steak. Each "set" consists of 2 appetizers, a soup/broth, sukiyaki with assorted vegetables, another broth, oolong tea, matcha tea, and dessert. We were completely stuffed! The food was presented beautifully. The staff was very kind and spoke to us in English, answering our questions and telling us what to expect. The restaurant is great if you want privacy while you dine. Tables are far apart from each other and there are panels which provide separation from other diners. This creates a very private atmosphere where you can enjoy the company of your companion without overhearing conversations at other tables. We will definitely go back, we felt very welcome at this restaurant. I highly recommend to anyone in the area looking to try expertly...
Read moreI have visited Imahan in several other locations but after yesterday’s dinner, this location have earned a special little spot in my heart.
We did not have reservations and was surprised to get seats at 8pm. We were the last guests of the night.
The menu was very straight forward - either sukiyaki, shabu2 or steak. You don’t need to question on the meat quality, it has stayed consistently excellent from my first visit in 2017 until today. Yesterday we had the beef from Kagoshima. The marbling was fantastic and it gives “melt in your mouth” a literal meaning.
The raw egg adds a nice touch to every slice of beef. I was savoring each bite and didn’t want my dinner to end! The portion size was just enough that you don’t feel sick from the fattiness of the beef, topped with the finest produce…… Ah! It was a fantastic dinner and a wonderful experience.
It has a very calming setting where everyone speaks softly and the ambience is what I will never get anywhere else.
We had a wonderful server (Katsuri) I might have misspelt his name, but thank you so much for your...
