So dirty, every single cup, bowl and spoon that gives out has food residue on it. The cups in the drawer for customers to drink water and tea are so filthy, I could not find a single one that is clean. I've never seen a restaurant being dirty like in Japan, why can't they wash their dishes properly? I can't trust their food being handled properly since their tableware is being so dirty. So you know their cleanness standards. When we visited for early lunch, most of their customers were seniors, maybe they can't see well so no one complains. The service at Ootoya is incredible. I left my seat for the bathroom. And upon my return, I noticed that a server held a tray with my order of food and waited for me to return to my seat, before delivering the food to me. In Toronto, Canada, this is only a standard procedure at fine dining restahrants. So I am amazed by the quality service at Ootoya! Thank you!

Read more上野恩賜公園や多くの商店街が周囲にあるだけあって、他の大戸屋と比較しても常時混雑している印象です。平日の15時くらいの時間帯でも空いているという印象は少なく、休日のランチタイムとなればその混雑具合は推して知るべしでしょう。 ほとんどの大戸屋では全てのテーブルに注文用のタッチパネル式デバイスが配置されていますが、この店では全ての席にそのデバイスが置いてあるわけではありません。置いてない場合は専用装置で店員を呼んで注文しますが、利用客が多いからか店員を呼ぶ頻度が他の店と比較しても多く、全ての店員が忙しなく動いています。タッチパネル式デバイスで注文する形式に慣れてしまう客からすれば、あまり落ち着かないかもしれません。その分、店員の接客態度がぞんざいなる、というわけではありません。 雑居ビルの3階にあり、昇降はエレベーター1基のみです。ビルには他にもいくつか飲食店があるため、特にランチタイムはレストランとビルの入り口付近が非常に混雑します。ビル入り口のエレベーター前には段差があり、車椅子等の障碍を持つ方にとってはやや利用しづらいと感じるでしょう。
Since Ueno Onshi Park and many shopping streets are located around the restaurant, it's always crowded compared to other Otoya restaurants. Even at 3:00 p.m. on weekdays, the restaurant is rarely empty, and when it's lunch time on weekends, you can guess how crowded it is. Most Otoya restaurants have touch screen devices for ordering at every table, but not every seat in this restaurant has one. If not on your table, you have to use a special device to call the staff to place your order, but perhaps because there are so many customers, the frequency of calling the staff is much higher than in other restaurants, and all the staff are busy. For customers who are used to ordering through touch screen devices, it may not be very comfortable. This is not to say that the waitstaff will be rude or unprofessional. It is located on the third floor of a miscellaneous building, and there is only one elevator to go up and down. Since there are several other restaurants in the building, the entrance of the restaurant and the building can get very crowded, especially during lunch time.
