I was totally disappointed by the entire experience here. We were the only people (group of 4) yet the food took over half an hour to be served. He said that he was the one working so we were patient and expectant of the jerk chicken that was on offer. In the meanwhile we had overpriced drinks, nothing was less than ¥750 not even the juice and soft drinks.
When the food arrived, we were unsure that the chicken was cooked properly. To be very honest, hunger and the price (¥1300!!!) were the only reasons we ate anything at all. The chicken wasn't jerk in the slightest, the mashed potato on the side wasnt even substantial and the pickled vegetables together with the salsa that was provided didn't help to improve matters. And there was way too much salt in the chicken.
I had a beer to help me forget the taste of the chicken but then I needed to eat some M&Ms to help me forget the taste of the beer? It tasted watery, unlike most nama biru I've had before. I've never had such a bad experience with food here before so it was a complete shock to be so dissatisfied with every single thing ordered.
The "chef" was also very unfriendly and didn't seem to want to engage with us. The music was reminiscent of reggae but we couldn't recognise the songs. If his attitude and the music was better, maybe it would have made up for the utter disappointment of the food. As three of us are Caribbean, we felt robbed in many different ways. After the ordeal, we walked across the street to Sushiro for food since most of us couldn't finish the "jerk" chicken due to the amount of salt.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT TO PUNISH SOMEONE ESPECIALLY...
Drinking alcohol brings with it two kinds of memories: those we want to look back on and those we don't. The former is accompanied by "hope," while the latter is accompanied by "regret." Without a doubt, Asakusa's Rastaman's Cafe promises the former.
As you ascend the stairs adorned with green decorations, you enter another dimension—yes, it's an otherworldly creation. The interior decor, the taste of the drinks, the delicious food... but above all, what makes this place truly wonderful is the staff's demeanor. The staff member is a person of great character, always exuding warmth with a smile and glasses, embodying the spirit of hospitality. In all my travels, I've never met someone quite like him.
Moreover, staff member K-san is also a woman with a wonderful smile and a solid presence. You won't find a Reggae BAR anywhere else on Earth that overflows with such "wonderfulness." This place is indeed a BAR that represents not just Asakusa but all of Japan.
I believe that the value of a product determines its price. And here, the price is incredibly "yassui yassui." If you visit Asakusa and don't come here, then your sense of humanity is "yassui yassui." Rastaman's Cafe is a place you must...
