During a recent visit to Japan, I had the opportunity to try Kobe Beef Asakusa-Kokusai. However, as a foreigner, I acknowledge that I made an error in calculating the cost, mistakenly overlooking an extra zero on the menu prices. I ended up paying $651 for 220g of Chateaubriand, along with two glasses of wine and two glasses of orange juice for 2 people.
Upon arrival, the waiter presented the menu and took my order at the door (felt pressured to). When I received the bill, I was shocked by the total but proceeded to pay. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience did not meet expectations. The food quality did not justify the price, and the service was lacking—our soup was only brought to the table after we had finished the steak, and that was only after I requested it.
In contrast, the following day, we enjoyed an exceptional wagyu steak at A5 Wagyu Sukiyaki Asakusa PANGA for four people, including alcoholic beverages, for under $200. The quality and value at this establishment far surpassed the Kobe Beef Asakusa experience and there was no difference in quality of beef.
Given the significant price disparity, quality of meal and the underwhelming service, I cannot recommend the Kobe Beef Asakusa restaurant, as the cost simply does not justify the...
Read more4th September 2024, I visited Kobe Beef Daia Kokusai Dori in Tokyo, and I was extremely disappointed. I paid ¥33,440 (200€) for a 220g Kobe beef steak.
While the food itself was delicious, everything else about the experience was unacceptable.
The restaurant lacked sophistication; the walls were covered with large photos of food and prices, which ruined the atmosphere for a relaxed dining experience. The chopsticks provided were bad quality (the cheapest ones), not what I would expect in a high-end establishment.
Moreover, the waiter pressured me to leave a good review on Google Maps during my meal, even bringing a "trophy" to take pictures with my food and repeatedly insisting on the review instead of letting me enjoy my meal.
The sake was served in a container that didn't appear very clean, which added to the discomfort.
When I asked about the quality of the Kobe beef, the staff said it was "A5," but this important detail was not mentioned on the menu, especially given the high price.
My previous experiences eating Kobe beef in other Tokyo restaurants were much better, where the staff was knowledgeable and professional.
I would not recommend this restaurant to other tourists. Although the food was tasty, the overall experience did not justify...
Read moreYou’ll find entitled Chinese and American reviewers claiming this place is a so-called scam but no concrete information. If you’re going to make a claim, at least write more than a sentence. Most likely, these profiles are a bunch of Karen’s with nothing to do. I took pictures and videos. This place is not really a tourist trap since it’s away from the Senso-ji Temple area. We went for lunch and it wasn’t busy. Kobe beef is not supposed to be cheap like it’s regular ground beef from the grocery store. You get what you pay for. It’s pricey but it’s worth it. I ordered the premium kobe beef sirloin with set C. Please see my pictures. It had more of a tasting feel since the portions were smaller but the quality was there. The staff was extremely nice and attentive. Don’t come here if budget is...
