Came here first in the winter and was served by a very helpful elderly man who tried his best to meet our needs as a young family, despite not speaking much English. It was such a great experience that my 5.5-year-old train enthusiast son bugged us to return again. So less than 6 months later, we had another opportunity to come to Japan again and had to make another stop here. This time round, a young Nepalese gentleman working behind the counter overheard our trouble communicating with the Japanese server out front, so he came out to help. I forgot to get his name (sorry!) but am so thankful he was there. He was very friendly and helpful, and advised us to wait for a table as some of the tables were finishing up. We would have left disappointed otherwise as we had thought it was full. He then helped to take out order in advance so we wouldn't need to wait long after getting a seat. I am very grateful for his empathy and helpfulness as I was visiting with two preschoolers alone. As with the previous experience, the food was lovely and service thoughtful, with an unbeatable view point situated in the middle of two train tracks. Hope to be back...
Read moreCool little cafe on the train tracks inside a defunct train station in Akihibara. The food wasn’t stellar, the kids plate was far too small even for my toddler, but the people were friendly and the atmosphere being between two active train tracks within view of two other tracks on bridges, made for an exciting quick meal for a family. You need reservations according to their site, but there were plenty of open tables when we arrived at 1700. Unfortunately, the desserts that were advertised like French toast and pancakes a la mode, were not available in the evening which was a big disappointment for my kids. It did look like they had a fun train themed bar flight and drinks named after train lines which was cute. I’m sure the college aged students and tourist find that fun. It was about 4000¥ for a family of four to eat, which is not bad at all, but my kids immediately said they were hungry after finishing their meals in about four bites each. Super cute train cafe. Best visited by families for brunch/ lunch and by young adults and bar patrons in...

I've been excited to try this place for the last few months, being a huge train fan. The views of the surrounding trains and the up close chuo line were spectacula, but besides train cocktails and the kids plates, that's where the train theme stopped.
After a cool 40 min wait to get in, the train views weren't as cool anymore. The food was ok, the hamburger steak was nice, pasta was significantly less nice but crucially it wasn't train themed. This and the many screaming children make it hard to recommend if you are just a train fan.
This restaurant seems to suffer from an identity crisis between its extremely unique location and being a very basic restaurant for kids. There's a really fancy and cool art gallery below, which seems to appreciate its train heritage with chuo line train models and a diorama of the old station which this place should learn from and go so much further.
The name's platinum fish... Make this restaurant fully train themed like it...
