A Japanese breakfast is one of my favorite meals no matter what time of day. I was super excited to try out this spot. We came quite early in the morning, and thankfully it was one of the few spots even open.
You come inside and the worker will gesture to a general area of the bar you can sit. It's quite cramped, so I wouldn't recommend coming with large backpacks or luggage. You order from an ipad (one at each seat). I don't recall seeing any English, but it wasn't anything Google Translate camera couldn't overcome, plus there are pictures so you know what you are getting.
We each got the salmon breakfast meal. I also ordered cold tofu, and my partner got green beans. There are also other side options like natto (fermented soybeans). The drink is self-service with the cups provided. After ordering, the worker will bring out your breakfast tray. Note that the salmon does have bones in it, so be careful! Unsure about the other fish, but better to be safe than sorry.
When you are finished with your meal, hand your ticket(s) to the worker and he will give you a final price. I don't recall if they accepted credit cards, so be sure to bring cash.
Overall, really great LARGE meal that set us up well for a day of adventure. There is an all-gender restroom tucked away on the left side of the restaurant. There are also hooks under the table for your...

opening hour is also very convenient for people who need to grab meal early and late night, as most of the shops around are not open except the convenience stall. However bettet to opt for this shop as you are getting hot warm fresh food.

May 2023: This place hasn’t changed. It still provides traditional Japanese breakfast with grilled fish. My favorite is the atko mackerel. Always my go to when in this area.
March 2018: This is my favorite breakfast restaurant in Shinjuku. It’s authentic Japanese cooking and reasonable prices below 800 yen for a set meal. You get your choice of mostly fish, with chicken pork and beef options. All proteins are grilled with a smokey flavor and served with rice, grated daikon and soy sauce, miso soup and pickled vegetables. Green tea is served for free. It’s hard to go wrong here with any order. I usually get the salted fatty mackerel or the fatty horse mackerel because Japanese mackerel is best in Japan, of course. I usually try to eat here more than once when I visit Tokyo. This is my go to...
