SOMTUM DER TOKYO YOYOGI — Restaurant in Tokyo

Good food Bad service. Waitress who has hair dyed in brown (not Japanese, speaks fluent English) is probably the worst server I have ever seen in my 10 months stay in Tokyo. First we ordered 3 milk tea and 1 dessert, she said "3??" in her astonished voice. I said yes and because I want a dessert. Then she repeated "3??" again a good 2 times. I got agitated asked "must everyone of us order drink?". She said "No, but you have 4 people so I am wondering why you only order 3 drinks." What is the logic of her question and concern? Why must we confirm her "questions" for 3 times? I supposed it is basic that a server should repeat our order to confirm at one shot after we COMPLETE the ordering? She put all the foods at the edge of the table and we had to move the plates around. She could have just walked 2 more steps to get closer to the table. There is another Japanese server and he was great, cleaning our plates, refilling our water. This place is in Michelin guide and was a star restaurant...I hope bad service isn't the reason you...

Among the best Thai food I have tasted ever. It is subtle and authentic without sacrificing any hint of flavour.

The three dishes I ordered took me to all sorts of emotional terrains.

The som tum is a classic winner. Fresh, tangy, and packs a punch.

The tom yum goong is spicy and delicious. The prawns comes so smoothly out of its shell and the coriander roots provide an additional layer of flavour.

The garlic fried pork and rice is also really tasty. The meatiness mixes with the fluffy and fulfilling rice.

They have such an extensive menu and I know that I will come back to sample...

Just knew that this restaurant just arrived in Tokyo. Stayed here for a week and it's time for me to have another cuisine which is not Japanese food. So I gave a try my lunch here coz I used to have dinner with Thai friend at Somtum Der Bangkok and I'm really in love with the food of this restaurant in BKK. And yes, I wasn't disappointed with this branch in Tokyo. The taste is 90% similar to Bangkok & of course it is so yummy, the ambience is very cozy & vibrant. Many customers there even it's just opened 1 day ago. I really love fried chicken wings, Somtum - papaya salad & pad Thai here....
