The best ramen I’ve ever had in my life ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My partner and I were visiting Japan for the first time for both of us in the fall of 2023. We were looking forward to all the different culinary experiences we had planned for (and we had planned extensively), and the day we visited Nara Siemen we actually had planned to go to Udon Shin, which is just around the block of Nara Seimen. As much as we tried to get in, the line for Udon Shin was LONG and we decided to leave.
We walked past this place because it’s not obvious it’s there; however my partner noted a small menu hanging at the entrance and we decided to take a look. It was late, and we were the only ones inside. The atmosphere was so serene, calm and ver personal. The staff was very friendly. We were surprised by the menu and we decided to ask for recommendations on what to eat.
I just can’t straightforwardly express what an amazing experience the food was. It was light, and tasty, very flavorful, rich and at the same time different from your typical ramen. We paired the food with sake and it was just chef kiss
To me this one one of the top 3 highlights of my trip, and I highly recommend anyone to come visit. I wouldn’t be surprised if this restaurant soon starts popping up the list of top...
Read moreCosy 8-seater udon noodle shop that served ramen with signature chicken / shio / shoyu soup base with bamboo shoot as main ingredient. It is located in between Shinjuku and Yoyogi. Note that signature chicken soup base is limited, I went for dinner and is sold out. Tried the shio and special shio... they were delicious! Doneness of noodles just right, soup is tasty & clean and special shio comes with torched chicken, char siew and egg, all were done just right, not too tough or dry! Condiments provided were difference peppers for you to add in the soup but I didn't use them as the taste is already very good. Restaurant is small hence queue has to be formed outside (on the road in the open). I will definitely want to revisit and try the signature chicken soup base so hughly...
Read moreWe got the shio ramen and the shoyu ramen and both were fantastic! The ramen noodles are thinner than typical noodles but they were perfectly chewy and had great texture. The special bowls came with an egg, two small slices of char shiu, a paper-thin pork slice, and two slices of slighty grilled chicken breast for the meats. The veggies were Japanese green onion and a large slice of fresh bamboo. Everything was excellent. The meat was all very tender and flavorful, the egg was cooked just right and unflavored so it didn't compete with the other flavors, and the unmarinated bamboo was a nice visual touch as well as delicious. The restaurant is very small with fewer than 10 seats and the stools are borderline dangerous. It's spendy for a bowl of ramen but I thought it...
