Starbucks Coffee - JR Ueno Station Iriya Ticket Gates — Restaurant in Tokyo

Around 4 PM on June 18, 2025, I had the extreme misfortune of being "served"—if one can even call it that—by a bespectacled female staff member whose attitude was nothing short of atrocious. She was utterly clueless about the situation and, in a bewildering move, made the person at the very front of the line start all over again. Honestly, those glasses of hers seemed purely ornamental—she might as well have been blindfolded! One can only hope she gets them refitted, because wearing them in her current state is about as useful as wearing sunglasses in a cave. The whole encounter left me speechless in the worst possible way.

What made it even more baffling was that I had just recently visited the Ueno Station Atre branch, practically around the same time of day, and the service there was a world apart—polite, efficient, and stress-free. The contrast was so stark, it felt like going from a five-star hotel to a crumbling shack. And to make matters even more puzzling, my past experiences at the Shibuya branch were equally positive, making this particular staff member’s behavior feel all the more out of place and...

上野駅（全て改札外）にはスターバックスが3店舗あります。上野公園や上野駅周辺の商業施設内にもスターバックスがあるため、平日・休日問わず大混雑する時間帯は少なく、また客の回転も早いです。その分、他の店舗と同様に、この店舗も店内はそれ程広くなく、また席数も30席程度と、決して多いというわけではありません。また、上野駅の駅舎の3階に位置していますが、窓からの眺望がいいわけではありません。ほぼ全ての席は1～2人用に構成されており、前述の通り席数も多くないため、大人数での利用は不向きです。上野恩賜公園でのレジャーや美術館・博物館鑑賞の帰りの一休憩目的で利用する客を多く見かけます。 給仕されるドリンクや料理の質や量、スタッフの接客対応の質は、他のスターバックスと遜色ありません。カフェ内にトイレはなく、最も近いトイレは上野駅構内（改札外）になります。しかし、そのトイレは本来は有料ですが、スターバックス利用者に限り、無料で利用できる暗証番号が配布されます（当然、日や時間によってその番号は異なります）。

There are three Starbuckses in Ueno Station (all outside the ticket gates). Since there are also Starbucks in Ueno Park and in commercial facilities around Ueno Station, there are few large crowds on weekdays and holidays, and customer turnover is fast. As with other Starbucks stores, this one is not very spacious, and only about 30 seats, so there are not many customers. Also, although it's located on the third floor of the Ueno Station building, it does not offer a great view from the windows. Almost all the seats are configured for one or two people, and as mentioned above, there are not many seats, so it is not suitable for large groups. Many customers use the restaurant for leisure time in Ueno Onshi Park or for a rest after visiting museums and art galleries. The quality and quantity of drinks and dishes served and the quality of the staff's customer service are comparable to other Starbucks. There are no restrooms in the cafe, and the closest restroom is located inside Ueno Station (outside the ticket gates). JR上野駅の入谷改札前というアクセス抜群の立地にあるスターバックス。改札を出てすぐの場所にあるため、待ち合わせや電車の乗り換えの合間にも気軽に立ち寄ることができます。今回は、新作の「ロイヤル アール グレイ ブーケ & ティー ラテ」を求めて入店しました。 店内は、いつものスターバックスらしい落ち着いた雰囲気。入谷改札前という場所柄、電車の待ち時間を利用していると思われるお客さんが多く見られました。 さて、注目の「ロイヤル アール グレイ ブーケ & ティー ラテ」。運ばれてきたカップからは、ベルガモットの華やかな香りがふわりと漂います。アールグレイティーに、カモミール、ジャスミン、ラベンダー、ジュニパーベリーといった花々の香りがブレンドされているとのことですが、その複雑で上品な香りに期待が高まります。 一口飲むと、まずアールグレイ特有の柑橘系の香りが口の中に広がります。その後を追うように、フローラルな香りが優しく追いかけてきます。それぞれの香りが主張しすぎることなく、絶妙なバランスで調和しているのが印象的です。ミルクのまろやかさが全体を包み込み、とても優しい味わいに仕上がっています。 特筆すべきは、トッピングの2色のフィアンティーヌ。花びらのように散りばめられたフィアンティーヌは、見た目にも華やかさを添えています。サクサクとした食感がアクセントとなり、最後まで飽きることなく楽しむことができました。 「ロイヤル アール グレイ ブーケ & ティー...
