sukiyaki & shabu shabu Ginza Rangetsu — Restaurant in Tokyo

We walked in at around 7:30 pm on a Friday night and were seated immediately. Very accommodating for my allergies. The restaurant has a unique specialty called suki shabu shabu, where meat and vegetables are cooked shabu shabu style in sukiyaki broth and a raw egg as dipping sauce. Coating the high quality beef in egg yolk makes it literally melt in your mouth with a subtle sweet flavor. I tried the shabu shabu, where the meal was cooked in hot water and dipped in soy sauce and vinegar. It had a lighter and more refreshing taste and brought out the beefiness of the meat. We had the B course (130g of beef) which was enough to make us satisfyingly full. We had the fresh fruit, which was cantaloupe, for dessert, and were blown away by the texture… Somehow the cantaloupe meat also melted in the mouth, it was so soft, sweet and juicy you could cut through it like pudding with a spoon. I accidentally find this restaurant. There are many various food at lunch. “The Wakyu A5 steak lunch” set was so awesome. Meat was so soft, tender and juicy, and it came with vegetable on rice. It was so perfect texture and combination. For the side dish, there was a tofu which was amazing texture that I never eaten before. It was liked tofu pudding in food version. My friend ordered “Wakyu A5 suki” lunch set. The sliced Wakyu beef with Sukiyaki sauce and boiled vegetable put on the rice was so tender and delicious. The restaurant environment is so traditional. Staff wears Kimono with kind service. All set will end with dessert. Today’s dessert is “Matcha warabi mochi” -Japanese traditional dessert. We randomly came into this shop and have a pleasant surprise. In fact, more than pleasant surprise. For the price, the server will cook the sukiyaki for you beautifully and serve you to their best abilities. We had the A5 beef and it’s one of the best well cut meat we have eaten. We come from Singapore, and this price for this amount of meat, service and atmosphere will cost easily 3 times more in our own country.

We will like to say thank you to Ms Oka for serving us so well cooking our beef and food to perfection and being so attentive. And to Ms Ai who first served us with such a big smile. My family of 3, including my 3 year girl had an amazing dinner here. Thank you Ms Oka for folding a ribbon for my girl and also making sure she is fed and well taken care too.
