food was okay at best, took 7 courses before the nigiri started coming in. wish the nigiri could be served earlier as i personally wasn’t interested in the other items that were served, one of them being cod. was quite turned off by the fact that grilled cod was one of the cooked dishes as it’s not really a “premium” fish (especially given the price point). sadly, the cod was over cooked, resulting in an overly chewy texture with the natural fish oils being dried out, which is the main highlight of cod anyway. my own mother who doesn’t know how to cook could even do a better job with cod by at least retaining the oils. the selection of neta for the nigiri was very basic, really nothing special so i wouldn’t say that it’s worth the price. while it is normal for omakase to be enjoyed slowly, this menu was served painfully slowly. perhaps it could be the fact that the restaurant was full house (8 seats) for this session.

overall, this was quite a disenchanting experience, really expected more from sushi kimura. not sure if it’s because this isn’t the honten so my experience wasn’t as stellar as other people claimed to have at Kimura...

This was my first time trying omakase, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The whole experience felt personal and intimate — especially being in Japan, where the tradition runs deep. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, which helped ease some of my nervousness as a first-timer.

Watching chef Kimura and his team work right in front of me was absolutely mesmerizing. The precision, care, and artistry that goes into every single piece is something you don’t fully grasp until you see it up close. At first, it felt a little overwhelming having chef Kimura watch me eat — I wasn’t sure if I was doing it “right” — but I quickly realized it didn’t matter. What mattered was enjoying the food, and chef Kimura and his team seemed genuinely happy to see that.

The dishes were phenomenal. I discovered flavors, textures, and ingredients I never imagined I’d enjoy. Every bite was a surprise in the best way. It wasn’t just a meal — it was an experience I’ll...

I'll start off by saying the service from the female staff was excellent.

We've dined at many omakase restaurants and for one that costs over ¥20,000, I feel you could get a lot more elsewhere.

Note that the foreigner omakase and the omakase served to Japanese locals are slightly different, which is fine, but when I booked online, it stated that 10 pieces of nigiri would be served. We got 9 and two very small rolls of cucumber sushi which the chef explained were "to cleanse the palette" - I'm not sure if the cucumber was supposed to count as one of the 10. Perhaps the chef forgot about it, but the fish are prepared beforehand so maybe not. Felt it would be rude to ask so we kept quiet.

My partner remained very hungry after the meal, and it was served quite slowly. The chef had amazing English though. Thank you for the meal and just something...

Lovely sushi dinner! The omakase started with several seasonal appetizers, such as flat fish (hirame) sashimi, crab, soft roe (shirako) and steamed octopus (tako). This was followed by an immaculate sequence of nigiri sushi. The atmosphere was relaxed and not as rapt as in many other high end sushi places, so this was a highly enjoyable dinner. Also noteworthy is the excellent sake (nihonshu) service - You just ask for more whenever your serving is finished and the next sake is perfectly matched to the next batch of nigiri you are about to eat. Reservations are rather easy to get via Pocket Concierge. Also, for 25k a head for the omakase and plenty of great sake this is excellent value for money.

My wife and I had a great time here. Chef Kimura is a polite and elegant person. Unlike the loud yelling in some sushi restaurants, here everything is served elegantly. For the food, personally I really appreciate how chef Kimura designed the sequence of each dish. From sashimi to grilled shellfish (with broth inside), to the grilled eel and finally the nigiri. You can feel the chef’s skill and his philosophy. Also, chef Kimura is very skillful in using vinegar and salt. The kohada, iwashi is perfect. Meanwhile, the restaurant has a great selection of wine. You can enjoy very good sake in a very reasonable price. I will dine with my wife again if I ever have another chance to visit Tokyo.
